With over 100 stores, including many big name merchants, there was even an El Con Cocktail Lounge . Owned by the same family for decades, by the 2000s it had lost tenants and had become a ghost mall .
The first mall in Tucson , El Con Mall, opened in 1960 with this sign. It was adjacent to the El Conquistador Hotel , which was demolished in 1968, hence the name.
This sign was removed and put in storage. The mall was purchased/revamped in 2014 by Stan Kroenke, owner of sports teams, including LA Rams. After the renovation, this original sign was reinstalled.
The space remains as Tucson’s oldest mall .

The rent-a-cops are really full of themselves.
Literally the oldest, most run down, crappy mall in Tucson . Go for In-N-Out, the theater or Target. Park place isn't too far and much better.
Fun fact: there used to be a mall here.
I'm sad this place is now just a mega strip mall .
