Simple food, done well. Since opening in 1923, the names and faces have changed but our reputation has not.

What a find! A thick milkshake is a must for starters; choc chip was amazing. Followed up with a great burger and fries with skins on. Service was great in a real friendly traditional diner .
Can't beat the vibe inside this place. You'll be in a great mood before you get your food, and an even better mood after.
During weekend brunch hours this place is busy, so come extra early/late or expect a wait. The menu is filled with american classics. Delicious food and huge portions .
This is perhaps my favorite restaurant in the world! Could eat all 3 meals here for weeks and not get sick of it. Everything from the bakery is awesome! (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
The hash pie was super crispy and tasty. I ordered the eggs over easy , which was a mistake - too runny for my liking. Regretted not ordering a slice of house made pie though.
Love everything they serve! Great burgers and shakes , They have strawberry too! Would recommend this to any palo alt'in and beyond!
Mint chip milkshake made w/ homemade ice cream , egg salad sandwich w/ black olives on sourdough & extra pickles on the side, steak fries , any baked goods like cookies , pies . Oh so good & open late !
Somewhat pricey but good food and ambiance. The pies are excellent - there is a deposit for the glass dish if you take out so make sure to return it.
A reliable downtown institution. Get the sausages and eggs (or the hashbrown pie ) and a peppermint shake . And a pixie stick for a dime at the register.
Just come for the best milk shake ever. You can combine two flavors. It’s simply amazing! Retro themed! Super cool.
The best breakfast in Palo Alto. Omelets and Vanilla shake among the best.
All the best parts of a diner without the crappy food. I lived in Brooklyn for 5 years and this is the best diner I've ever been to. Don't leave without a shake or pie (or both).
If you get a milkshake to go, ask for it in two cups, otherwise they end up throwing some out. Make sure you get all 2000 calories.
Hash Brown Pie was very satisfying, although not recognisably a pie in any sense I am familiar with.
Get the fresh cinnamon rolls and corned beef hash and the hash brown pie !
Northwest Scramble was fantastic along with the milkshakes . Prices are high but atmosphere are killer. Absolutely try it out.
The intentional misspelling of 'breakfast' on the menu makes a vein in my forehead twitch. If you know you'll also be bothered by this, get a friend to order for you.
Really original Huevos Rancheros . You just have to add avocado and that's it!
Great diner style food in a cool retro atmosphere. Definitely not a cheap diner , but the portions are generous!
Ask for the pepper plant hot sauce to go with your eggs or hash browns .
Bread is super fresh and tasty. I've never had a bad meal at either Palo Alto location. I will say that the cost is high for a diner .
Old-school breakfast diner . Try their eggs benedict or go with other savory option instead of sweet.
Tuna melt is so awesome on wheat bread with tomato . Best one I've found so far in the South Bay Area.
I would probably only go back for onion rings and/or a milk shake . I was very displeased with the food and the service.
The best meal in Palo Alto! You should try Ice cream and milkshake !
The buffalo chicken sandwich was one of the best ones I've ever had. Really tasty. The fries were only so-so.
Banana cream pie that beats all of those pie places in sf! The coconut cake is fab too - not too sweet.
Great French toast with coconut . Fresh orange juice is refreshing
Possibly one of the best apple pies I've ever had. Definitely worth sharing.
Great service! Staff is super friendly and the food came unbelievably fast; especially for a packed Friday night
It's all about the hash brown pie and mint chocolate chip milkshake .
One of the best breakfasts in the Bay Area
Great place for your typical all-american brunch , their sourdough and rye bread are really good.
Get the brownie almond fudge shake . Your mouth will meet an amazing flavor.
Great service, the pancakes and eggs are VERY good
The pie is so much better warmed with vanilla ice cream !
As a soup snob, Palo Alto Creamery serves an excellent clam chowder .
Get the steak & eggs for dinner as they have all-day breakfast.
So much better than other burger joints hands down!! Gets crowded so expect a wait.
Fun diner with excellent comfort food !
The turkey club was great but ask for your shake when you food comes out. Yum
Everything is yummy but huge!
Fun, playful, retro ambiance. Great milkshakes and other diner staples.
Excellent bacon . Amazing pies .
These guys know how to make a vanilla malted - the best!
The Chevre , hash browns , fresh wheat toast , and don't forget to ask for their jam , it's fresh! :)
Great breakfast items, and the pies are amazing.
Milkshake was bomb. Service great too!
Best milkshakes ever! Oreo cookie is the best one. I like to dip my fries and grilled cheese sandwich in them too.
Caribbean French Toast : coconut , caramelized bananas & real maple syrup !
The Banana Cream Pie is to die for. We love it more than the BCP at Mission Pie in SF. Fresh bananas, perfect custard (not too firm not too runny) and a thick graham cracker crust! - LocoCat
Great food and service even during Covid. Outdoor dining is great especially during the warm fall evenings of Palo Alto. Somm owner Dennis is super friendly - Andy Wang
The portions were large and very healthy! I had the salt and pepper chicken with a side of salad, yummy! - Jeena James
Mint mojito is my favorite, sweet and creamy. Tesora is good for home. - Jeannie Stafford
Open glass front, nice staff, though it's a little hectic and seems disorganised at times. - Graham Macphee
