Orwashers Bakery
Orwashers is a New York City institution. Founded in 1916 by a Hungarian family, the bakery began as a small storefront in the UES. It was borne out of a desire to serve the local immigrant community and focused on high quality rye, black, and grain breads that reflected their homeland traditions.

Everything is delicious! Almond butter/jam/bee pollen sandwich , turkey sandwich (incredible!), raspberry brioche , cinnamon raisin bread loaf ... all amazing!
Sourdough bagels are great and there's a wonderful selection of breads . A nice change of pace from bakeries focusing on sweets.
Delicious rugelach and chocolate chip cookies ! Pretty small interior but on a nice day grab a table outside , relax and people watch .

This place has the best jelly-filled donuts I have ever had! Not to mention it's not too expensive either.

Do not go. Went early this morning and bought 2 donuts . They were stale and left a bad aftertaste. Also they were hard. Supermarket donuts would have been much better and at a fraction of the cost
