The first 9km of the trail is switchbacks in trees and is super boring, but press on and you'll be rewarded with the most beautiful alpine lake surrounded by peaks. Great wildflowers in the summer.
The trail is intermediate. Allow 3 hours to hike it up, and 2 hours to "run downhill". Once you complete the first 6.5 km, you are done with the difficult zic-zac, enjoy the scenic glacier lake :)
It takes a long time to hike up to the lake , but is well worth it when you get to the top. Make sure you take the 5mins detours to see Barrier Lookout on the way up or down.
Such an amazing area. Views are so intense.
No garbage cans, so pack it out. Also, pay your backcountry/parking fees.

Rare shelter on the trail. The trail splits here. You can use Google maps to decide which way you'd rather go. - Joe Nixon
Well worth the minor detour from the main trail. You won't realise how far up you're hiked until you see the view from the lookout! Good place to stop and eat on the rock. - Joe Nixon
