This place is an institution - been coming here for 25 years. Fish cakes with the pickled veg are a must, as well as the dry noodles with chicken , pork , kidney , and shrimp .

Whenever I am in Oakland I always make a stop here. This is a great value place with good food. I would recomment the Beef Saday. Once you get seated you are served fast with fresh made food.

fresh beef with ho fun = perfect comfort food . Try the chili paste on the table, they make it themselves. They also sell it to go :) and of course have to get iced coffee with milk .

You could totally split any dish here, but I recommend you don't since you're going to be hungry enough for your own!

You can get your noodles with soup on the side. I like mine dry. "Gon lo."

One of only 2 places in the Bay Area I know of that serves Vietnamese/Chinese style noodles . You'll get the evil eye from the old lady if you use too much chili oil !

Beef stew ho fun is delicious. They make their own hot chili sauce and pickled jalapeños .

Better than the el cerrito one, more flavor. Get it dry with soup on the side. Their combination fried rice is also good.

Get the fish cakes and the stir fry kidney with green onions and Ginger . No organ stink and cooked to tender perfection. Quality control for 30+ years

I recommend #21 Chow Jew Ho Fun , the local favorite. No kidney and soup on the side, followed with jalepeno peppers , hot sauce , and hoi sing sauce.

Best stir fried kidney ! Sit by the window!
