Originally named Ficklen Stadium after James Skinner Ficklen, the stadium was renamed Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in 1994, after million dollar donors to the Shared Vision Campaign, Ronald and Mary Ellen Dowdy. An expansion took place in 2010, which raised capacity to about 50,000 fans.

If you're into college football , this is where you should go. Go Pirates!
You gotta try the Carolina Nachos at stand across from section2-3 seating.
Great atmosphere and great tailgating! Go pirates
Atmosphere was good. They ran out of frozen lemonades on a 100 degree day which wasn’t good. Decent college game venue though.
Make sure you rock your school colors on game day !
Best seats are in the bond yard!!!
If you plan on sitting down, don't go to the student section THE BONEYARD !!!
