此址於1906年為日本憲兵分隊所，1945年光復後改為台北市警察局「第七分局」，直至1993年止，因應行政區調整而警局名稱先後再改為「古亭分局」及「中正二分局」。1954年改建及擴建完成，現今看到的建築外觀線條、內部主要結構，較多為該時期所留存的。全館分為兩棟建築結合形式。前棟為兩層樓高，採日式磚造建築，一樓為大廳、公共空間，二樓則為藝文空間；後棟為三層樓高建築，一至三樓主要分為：實驗劇場、行政辦公室、排練場。
