Yes, you can probably find a better and cheaper cocktail elsewhere. But you come to the legendary Campbell Apartment , which is located literally within Grand Central, for the history.

Wow, this place is great. Lively but not crowded , pricey but not outrageous, dark but not hard to see. Live jazz played (maybe a bit too loud ), but service was great. Try the bayerd fizz or punch.

Gorgeous place, looks like they stole the ceiling from a Tibetan temple or some such. There was a jazz duo when we were there, delightful!

Established 1923 as an office used for semi-public entertainment until 1957. Restored in 1999 as a public bar , restoring the walls, ceiling, & safe and matching the new bar . Updated again 2006.

We went in the afternoon. It was quiet and chill and we had a great bartender . Highly recommended.
