Salvo, NC

During the Civil War, a Union ship spied the town of Clarks, but couldn't find its name on the map. The ships captain said, "Give it a salvo anyway." A sailor then wrote "Salvo" to mark the town .

All beach access requires you to walk over dunes, but after that, this stretch of beach is far more preferable.

Make sure to bundle up for the walk to the beach . Mosquitos are out of control! Keep an eye out for dolphins too :)
