Shake's Old Fisherman's Grotto

We had steak and lobster and both meals were absolutely delicious. A perfect place for birthday celebrations or other special occasions . Staff is super friendly .

Had an amazing meal here and really you must get the giant pineapple drink because you only live once. Steak was good but the scallop potatoes were out of this world!

My Monterey go-to for seafood for 20+ yrs: NE clam chowder in a bread bowl , bucket of steamed clams , Cioppino + always a great view of the Bay & abundant marine life below Fisherman's Wharf!

Hot crab sandwich w soup is a perfect portion. The clam chowder is one of the best on the boardwalk. You can try it before walking in. Ocean views from all seating. Overall a decent place to eat.

Outstanding service , amazing chowder and the Pesto salmon was outstanding. Ask for Efren. I love that the women get a rose at the end of the meal!

The food is very delicious. Try the soft shell crab - I loved it. Prices could be a bit steep, and the service could be a bit slow.

Best clam chowder of all and perfect steak in surf& turf !!! Looks much better from inside than outside. No kids are allowed, so have to come next day without them. Candle type dinner

The chowder really is fantastic, as is everything else we had. The steak was cooked perfectly. The lobster , scallops , and shrimp were superb. In addition to the great food, the service is outstanding.

The atmosphere at night is romantic : dimly lit, with candles at each table! :). We got a calamari appetizer on the house...a surprise to us, given that we ordered an seafood appetizer platter !

Great restaurant . The food is excellent and they play awesome music like Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald. Do t miss this place.

Sometimes it's nice to dine with such old fashioned charm — nothing fancy here, but the food was tasty and staff friendly . The surf and turf was great.

Salads and sea food pasta were amazing. Brian was extremely attentive and kind. We felt like home because of him. My girlfriend received a rose :)

If you come often sign up for a frequent diner card and you get a free ap w/ every meal. Best chowder and calamari in the world. And the grilled artichokes are amazing. Entire menu will not disappoint

Get a free appetizer outside from the clam chowder sampler! The lazy man cioppino and jambalaya are a good place to start.

Clam chowder is a must! Then choose an entree (I suggest tuna ), then finish your meal with delicious Frangelico , it is made w/ almonds

Get a card for a free calimari app at the store at the end of the wharf, left side (sometimes they give them out at the door). Massive calimari dish, and the coconut shrimp is amazing!

Great food &wonderful hospitality Chris, the owner plays at doorman and does a fabulous job of making you feel like family, or better yet an old friend:-)

It's a little dated, but great setting and excellent service.

Call ahead to get window table . Roast Dungness crab with garlic butter is great. Creme Brulee one of the best I've had.

Ask for a table by the window. Note that they don't have baby chairs and ask to keep quiet .

Good and huge portion of chowder , good calamari , quite expensive and a bit touristy but the quality is better than other similar spots

Yes, they have won best chowder 9 yrs in a row. Very creamy. "Bowl" is clamshell tureen shareable for two.

Possibly least touristy place to eat on the wharf. Nice and quiet inside and food was good.

Get the garlic bread bowl of clam chowder . So gluttonous but worth it.

This restaurant has a stated NO STROLLERS - NO LOUD CHILDREN policy, which is delightful. An adult dining experience with generous pours and excellent food.
