1988年正式对外开放的的西汉南越王博物馆，建筑面积17400多平方米，主要展示南越王墓原址及其出土文物。博物馆以古墓为中心，依山而建，将综合陈列大楼、古墓保护区、主体陈列大楼几个不同序列的空间有机地联系在一起，突出了遗址博物馆的群体气派，是岭南现代建筑的一个辉煌代表，曾获得六项国内外建筑大奖。博物馆还设有杨永德伉俪捐赠的陶瓷枕专题陈列和不定期的临时展览。博物馆现藏陶瓷枕多达400余件，制作年代由唐迄民国，以宋、金为主，数量之多、品质之精、窑口之广在国内同类收藏品中均属罕见。
