The Old North Church is officially known as Christ Church in the City of Boston. It was built in 1723, and is the oldest standing church building in Boston.

If you're following the Freedom Trail I'd highly recommend stopping in the Old North Church. You can tour on your own, but joining a guided tour is definitely worth it.

So, very very cool place. Interesting the way people used to worship in their own little cubicles. Parking is HORRIBLE! Do not go during after school hours....you will NOT find a place to park !

The bust of George Washington is said to be the likeness most resembling Washington's actual appearance (according to the Marquis de Lafayette, a close friend of George's).

When you visit, be sure to check out the famous "third" lantern !
If you take the tour , there are two flights of thin crickety stairs to go up and back down. Be careful of that.
At the Old North Church you can view the steeple where the two lanterns were hung that signaled Paul Revere to take his famous ride , and sparked the Revolution.
Little Italy is around. A beautiful area to do sightseeing.

I was not aware there are around 1100 bodies in old crypt under the church ....
The staff here do great talks during the day on the history of the Church and Paul Revere 's ride.
Don't forget the gift shop next door, and since you so close go see the USS Constitution just down the street!
Two services on Sundays you can enjoy. The 9am is 45 mins with no music , and the 11am is a full service with choir that's just over an hour.
