I come here all the time with my kids. I've never had a problem and it's their favorite park . The park is practically across the street from City Hall and the Police Department.
This place unfortunately is often full of bums and drug dealers now. Used to be a nice place that we could bring our daughter. Hopefully the police will get it cleaned out soon. It's a beautiful park
