A cool, laid-back place with tons of interesting twists on izakaya classics . Don't miss scallop , pork belly , bacon , or chicken skewers . Also, takoyaki , BBQ eel , & banana dessert . WinstonWanders.com
Brisket bento box is a delicious BBQ Japanese mashup, and a feast for two. Everything is tasty, including the inventive cocktails . Fun outdoor vibes.
Favorite meal so far in Austin (and best bbq too). Final bill was way lower than I expected too. Fatty brisket was incredible, sunomono, mackerel and ribs were great. Both skewers I got were just ok.
A Japanese izakaya in a Texan setting, serving izakaya classics , inventions, and some takes on Texan classics. Sounds like an unorthodox combination, but the result is superb. I will definitely return
Tsukemen soup is unreal. The one in Ramen Tatsuya is better but still this one is almost right there. The Japanese ambience inside is awesome!!!
One of Austin's finest. The excellence of every dish here is truly remarkable. "Puddin' on the Ritz" is so unbelievably delicious that it will forever ruin banana pudding for you at any other place.
The smoked half collar was super special. Chili cheese takoyaki and the hot pocketz were also fun to eat. True to the fusion and with winning results!
The crown jewel Of the Tatsu-ya empire. The karaage was great…everything else ok, but brisket is underwhelming. Banana cake is great…but the ambience is the most important.
Amazing highly recommend! Japanese izakaya meets Texas smoke house. The blue cheese tofu melts on your tongue , smoked fish collar , Tex ramen
Amazing atmosphere and brilliant menu. It's izakaya style so bring your appetite. Can't lose from the smoker or skewers . Bbq eel and scallops were standouts. Ramen was tasty but not necessary.
Love their well-curated decor. Interesting Japanese-Texan mash-up. Brisket Ramen works well until about halfway in when it gets too salty. Worth trying but don't expect to be blown away
The fish rib , and gyutan were great. Also loved the mentaiko tots . One of the few places to find shiokara in Texas.
The Beef Tongue was probably the best small dish that I have ever eaten in Austin.
Great Japanese inspired restaurant that reminds me a lot of Kenka over in NYC. Lots of delicious fun bites to share and very modern interpretations of delicious food.
A fusion take that doesn’t suck at all. The classic izakaya stuff is well done, but their original creations are really special. Don’t forget the brisket
Didn’t have one bad dish. Chilli smothered takoyaki shouldn’t work, but it does. Yellowtail collar was amazing, as was the beef tongue . But the highlight may have been the smoked jalapeños .
Everything we had was amazing and the team were so lovely. Rate the scallops , ramen and brisket . And the pecan pie !
Good if your a hipster that has money to spare. Over priced for quality of food. Was served 5 skewers , one being the squid was good but the others where charred burnt and worst of all cold.Nice drinks
Everything was amazing from the smoked edamame to the squid fermented in squid guts. Be adventurous!
Skewers : beef tongue , chicken thigh . BBQ duck .
Get the brisket with the bento box . It’s well worth it
Guaca-poke is a dip that's perfect for sharing. Decent portion size.
The pork ribs are deliciously tender and smoky!
Tasty, expensive bar food. Good for a date!
Texas smoke + Asian Spice + Japanese sophisticated palate= WINNING
The BBQ tsukemen was divine!
We didn't have anything that wasn't amazing.
Karaage Chicken
Quentin Tarantino brisket .
Texas Beef Ramen and fish collar
The place I bring people who are visiting the most
ATX Izakaya 🤘🏻
Puff puff pass the okonimiyaki
Not worth the money! If your looking for athletic Japanese don’t go here! If your looking for overpriced pre-package fusion food come here!
Ask for Miho. Excellent waitress! Super knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly attentive - Maco Rodriguez
Everything is FANTASTIC here. Finally someone can compete with Uchi's. It is not a cheap place, but worth every penny. Go try it. The dragon maki roll was to delish!!! - ASK Gwen Cash
One our favorite dinners in Austin. Loved the queso and truffle sukiyaki dips, beef & chicken meatballs, blue crab gyoza, basil udon, and all the cocktails. - Noah Weiss
Tons of SPACE, and charm. Reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Ticket times ran a bit long for food, but I'm sure they'll sort that out over time. Also, they kept the ping pong and hula hoops! - Daniel Miranda
Red pepper gin drink, great ambiance. Cozy inside but also has a nice outdoor area. Kind of expensive but the cocktails are unique. - B W
Wonderful and relaxing! Full volume dancing! So fun! Can't wait to visit again. - Anngeelala
