Costruito dai Longobardi verso la metà del I millennio e passato nel corso dei secoli nelle mani di Franchi, Scaligeri, veneziani, Visconti, francesi e austriaci, il Castello è monumento nazionale dal 1902. Ospita una stanza dedicata a Goethe, un Museo di Storia Naturale e uno della Pesca.
