Der Neptunbrunnen wurde im Zuge der Umgestaltung der Anlage unter Kaiserin Maria Theresia zwischen 1778 und 1780 erbaut. Der Brunnen ist gut hundert Meter lang, knapp fünfzig Meter breit und ohne Figuren etwas über sieben Meter hoch.
