Your right Marathon is not a Key it's a town on the vaca Key Regardless, the people here aren't so picky about what you call it. It's a great place to be.

Sombrero beach is awesome ! Private secluded and nice for snorkeling and just chilling.

There is no Key called Marathon ;p. This place is IN the islands of Marathon on Grassy Key

once here you wont want to leave.

Go check out Sombrero Beach , free & nice. Main road has a lot of restaurants and some chains to offer.
