Walk around Lake Harriet at sunset so you end up at the band shell for a little summer music . Then head up the hill to Sebastian Joe's for ice cream (two scoops, of course).
Don't pass up the Lyndale Park Gardens : rose , Japanese rock, and a Bird sanctuary nature trail that will take you back to the Lake Harriet Bandshell. Ride the trolley!
Whether you just want to take a stroll, get some great icecream , feed the ducks or rent a sail boat, this is the place. It's a wonderful place to set and enjoy the beautiful trees and scenary.
My favorite lake ! A stressful place to ride a bike but a great place to walk. The kite festival held each January rules.
Leave a note for the elf in his tree house - just west of the biffy on the south side of the lake . Then check back for his response. Yes, you'll get one.
Lake Harriet was voted as having Best Bike Trail by City Pages readers in 2010. Be happy. Pedal fast. And if you get thirsty, just pump some fresh water from any of the three water wells .
Great walking/running path. A little less than 3 miles around. Connects to lake Calhoun near the bandshell.
The lake was donated to Minneapolis in 1885. There's an "elf house " carved into the base of an ash tree . For years one could leave a letter for the elf supposedly living there & sometimes get a reply.
It was beautiful night tonight! And they have beer at the band shell now!
It's like the parent-and-kid version of Lake Calhoun .
Carve some time out in your schedule to walk, run or skate around all three lakes
Even pretty in winter. Can't wait to see in spring.
Try to find the "elf house " at the base of a tree . Kids will love it!

This lake as tons to do. Walking, running, enjoying the scenic views plus a lot more. Just be prepared. It is a busy lake especially in the summer - Lynn Studeny
It is beautiful all year round! There is the paying for parking, which I don’t always remember being there, other than that it’s still beautiful with a great park for kids! - Leilani Andrews
