I love how it's literally in the neighborhood , it would just be a 10 min walk for me, but when we drive it's only a 3 minutes! Such a beautiful place, don't forget to buy tickets for the mini train !!
Took my son here to see the place and we ended up becoming members. It is absolutely worth it to be members especially if you have children. It's a place where they can run around and enjoy nature.
You'll enjoy it more if you absorb the original 1957 mission statement (as posted in the Boddy house )

Wonderful gardens with lots of winding paths. Membership more than pays for itself by getting in free at other gardens all across the country .
Always arrive early if you want good photos any time of year otherwise the gardens become mobbed with people.
Get your winter tickets to the Enchanted Forest light show walk early. Sells out quickly.
At one time, the property belonged to newspaper magnate E. Manchester Boddy who owned the Los Angeles Daily News. Because of his love for plants, he operated a garden at the location. Read more

Walk to the Bird Observation Station where hundreds of bird species have been viewed . My favorite are the Canadian geese, ducks and turtles . It's next to the rose garden . Don't miss the camelias!!

Grab a water at the front gate. You'll need it when you're half way to the Boddy House . Great place to let kids run free. Go after Noon to capture the "golden hour" for the best photos.

Find a quiet spot , and start reading. Best day ever. Come on a free day, even better. Usually it's six bucks, which isn't bad considering you'd otherwise be getting a latte for similar price.

Take a long evening walk around these beautiful gardens .
Bring your camera , you'll take lots of photos . In addition, there are lots of benches to sit and enjoy the Garden .

Not a great place to visit in the summer. Everything is pretty dead. But I imagine it is absolutely stunning in the spring.
