Had dinner on Wednesday evening and there was live piano jazz music performed by the entrance. Lovely dinning atmosphere and experience! The food was great too.
The tips say it all. The off menu burger is delish! But the main menu is not to be discarded, it's still packed with amazing food. The wine list is superb, the service is always excellent.
Superb live music , great atmosphere! I celebrated my birthday there. And that was a perfect choice. We could talk and hear each other while being listening to the background piano. Enjoyed the food
Lovely quiet place tucked away from the busyness of Covent Garden . Burger with wine was tasty. Nice atmosphere and friendly attentive service .
Sn extremly underrated place. Cosy environment, good music , excellent service and delicious food. A great place to spend time.
Went there after hearing great reports about their burger . Had one with cheese and it was excellent. Could have been a tad bigger but that it is because it was so enjoyable.
Love everything about the place... Live music , dreamy lights and great American food !
The underground new-institution is known for its off-menu "secret burger ," which is cooked to taste from a mega-slider-size ball of sirloin , covered in cheese & bacon . Read more
Great staff and atmosphere. Consistently good American bistro cooking. A pre-theatre must.
Still a must. Solid and constant in service and quality. Bar staff are great. Pre theatre perfect.
This post-theatre classic has genuine heritage as being a hang out for post-show actors and has an unwittingly convivial late-night vibe. Be sure to pop in here and get the ribs - they're delicious! Read more
Don't look at the menu or get a table - just grab a stool at the bar and ask for a burger - you won't be disappointed!
It was a delightful experience. I did get a bad bit of beef mainly it had veins but the cost was removed. Lovely staff would totally recommend
Well known for their 'secret' burgers . They're not on the menu , but you'll find everyone ordering them.
Burgers-but in general everything is outstanding - there soup and starters are a must
One of the few genuinely tasty "Americana" menus in London. The pork chop is great.
Quiet and cozy brunch with wonderful service and newspapers too. Eggs Benedict ????
Have been coming here for 30 years but the show biz buzz is not there anymore - the food was never top notch so atmosphere was everything. Note 12.5 % service added to bill
Still an absolute rock solid faithful if you want a top notch mid price lunch . The bar 's great and the always happy staff and nice buzz make it a winner.
Good bistro food, nice atmosphere. Private and good for business lunches
Always good food and a great atmosphere. Service can’t be faulted ????????
Joe Allen’s has moved to its new home around the corner and is still fabulous
A theatreland favourite, you will more likely be dining next to the stars of the stage play you've just seen!
The meat sharing platter is good...as well as the chips with chipotle mayo .
An institution. I dined next to Ed Balls and Rosie Winterton MP. American Italian food
Late night option in Covent Garden . So so food but nice atmosphere with cool retro show posters
Really good food and great atmosphere. Good value for London.
Tried the secret burger ... It's good but I wouldn't call it the best. asked for medium, got it well done. Byron's burgers are better.
Don't bother with the menu, go for the secret Joe Allen Burger . £9 vs. £25 for a steak ?? No contest

Nice environment and tasty burger .
Amazing Burgers - but remember its of the menu
Get the secret burger . The fries that come with it are awesome.
The off-menu burger w. cheese & bacon is yummy :-)
2 courses £19.50 (incl. 1/4ltr house wine ) Sun, Mon AND from 2012, Tue, Wed as well
Ask for the secret burger - not on the menu but it's excellent! Take a table in the corner and look out for Theatre royalty coming through the doors. Read more
Go here only for their secret burger . All other items on the menu are not value for the money being charged. Don't order their house white as its too dry and does not go well with the food at all.
Everything is good here. ????

Secret burger w/ bacon and cheese . Cheaper than rest of menu.
Burger no longer soo secret, it is on the menu
dont try the cheesecake - no base and no flavour - might aswell be a block of chedder . everything else is superb!
Unbeatable when on form. Mid-range, not budget, occasional slebs, cheaper meals often the best.
Part of London Theatre furniture
Great for brunch - try the Eggs Joe Allen
Great place. Real Manhattan vibe.

Amazing BBQ! Huge whiskey bar also! The ribs are so soft and juicy! - Eddie Sharkey
One of the best steaks I've had in London. Great place for a theatre night. - Anthony Cameron
Had a great flat iron steak as the special. Great fries, perfect for dipping. - Kevin McCulley
The Lion King show was by far the best show I've ever been to!! It's a must watch and do not miss it if you're ever in London. My family and I are obsessed! - M B
Probably the fanciest theatre I've ever been to in London. Loved the layout and the detailing in the designs are exquisite! My favourite part of the theatre would be the coloured seats. #DREAMGIRLS - Ezryn Zarof
I sat on A21 in the Upper Circle and I found myself leaning forwards quite a lot during the show so I would recommend choosing a seat a bit further back (row D or E) - L M
