The best bar to come to during the winter season , warm up with a round of Glogg and ginger cookies . Plenty of history at this early 1930s prohibition era pub . The bar itself is modeled after a ship.
Simon's – the founding Simon was Swedish, of course – began as a basement speakeasy during prohibition (upstairs was a grocery ) and went legit in 1934.
Scandinavian old man bar . Divey, dark, and cheap . Best jukebox in the city . Visiting between Thanksgiving and New Years? Get the glogg and a ginger cookie .
Good service and good crowd on weekends, I just wish they took credit cards.
Love the traditional glogg in the winter but also the frozen glogg in the summer!
Great jukebox , one of my favorite places to drink in the city (I'm a beer & Malört shot gal here).
The sign with the drunk fish is actually a Scandinavian pun, pickled herring is a popular food item there hence the drunk fish is getting "pickled ".
A must see if you are visiting or live in Chicago. Grab a shot of Aquavit or a glass of Glogg and ask the owner Scott for the 5 cent tour...it really only costs 5 cents and is worth every penny!!
Their mulled wine is amazing, especially on a cold winter night.
Simon's Tavern woos passersby sauntering down Clark Street with their incredible vintage neon sign of a fish holding a martini . Try their homemade Glögg, a Swedish mulled wine . Read more
Always a good bet for a low key bar in Andersonville. Killer juke box . Cash only .
Impressive beer list ... great service.. and the Glögg!
The route #50 Damen bus is the ‘side door’ to get here from the near northwest side. ☞ You could connect to another venue's wi-fi network.
Awesome low key bar . In the winter they serve hot grog. Hop Leaf gets more attention, but this place has a better overall vibe.
Wednesday Nights when the Western Elstons are playing are the best.
Best bar ever! Great people! Wish I had a place like this near me. Hell, wish I lived near hear!
Ask the owner (Scott) about the history of the place. He is happy to tell and it's really interesting!
Best jukebox on the north side.
Friendliest dive in the city . Also glogg.
Best jukebox in the city . No joke! Kinda silly that CD jukeboxes are vintage but still.
Great place for a chill beer
Find a way to talk to the regulars. They may seem unfriendly, but they are really nice people if you can find common ground.
Interesting experience sitting at the bar when a crowd of 30 arrives for a pub crawl. Bartenders in RARE form
Top 3 bar in Chicago. I would name the other two, but they don't exist.
Glögg slushies . All you need to know
If you're a North Community Bank customer, there is no ATM fee here!
Is this the diviest bar in the neighborhood ? Yes
Although "frozen" sounds antithetical to the concept of "glögg," you should still try the frozen glögg .
Love this bar . Dark, cozy , jokes from the bartenders ...they even serve "pumpkin crap" this month...
Authentic Chicago here.
Frozen glogg is amazing !!!!
Apparently this is a glogg spot...kidding. If you don't get glogg at least once, you're an idiot.
The best Glogg in the city !
It's Glögg Time! Drink this wonderful heated, spiced and sweetened wine , a bit like the German Glühwein. Read more
Glogg is good
Cheap drinks , cash only , and best jukebox in the city .

Get a frozen Glögg if it's hot.
A dive with Scandinavian...flair? They serve up hot Glogg during the wintertimes.

Frozen Glögg is AMAZING!
Bring cash, otherwise you get "dick" service.
Bartender knows how to pour a jameson on rocks
white glogg. Yum!
Tasted Glugg for the first time!
