This place is amazing ! Best restaurant in Manchester and for a reason. Go for lobster pasta and chicken liver antipasti ... Or avocado with lobster and shrimps ... Or whatever.

It's a great Italian restaurant which deserves many awards. You should not leave Manchester without having a dinner at San Carlo.

Always packed and food also really good. Sometimes too busy and herd instinct in packing in and moving out. An institution to visit

You certainly don't need to be a baller to eat here, great atmos & mains from £8. But if you want to come on a Fri or Sat, you need to book in advance . It's busy because it's good!

Place was easy to find the san Carlo salad was okay,pizza was real good & light but HUGE couldn't eat half of it..creme brûlée was a bit on the heavy side but overall good ... The staff were friendly

Wonderful food but too caciarone (noisy and crowdy) for my taste. Try the bistecca al Barolo that's superb! I find San Carlo cicchetti wins between the two.

The tagliatelle montecarlo is exquisite. Sadly the service, while good, was provided by at least 6 different people, which I always find disconcerting.

So close to being a perfect place but service is 'stack em in and get em out' and there is no intimacy or romance. A Manchester icon though

The Crème brûlée is to die for! A crunchy caramel top with a creamy but not too rich custard ... Must try!

I've had one of my best meals here: Insalata Adriatica (seafood salad ), filetto dolcelatte (fillet steak with blue cheese sauce ) and a Cappuccino . Perfect.

Most of their selection are excellent especially Pasta with seafood

They have a new pasta on the menu (May '11) called 'Pasta E Polpette', the meatballs are some of the best I've tasted.

Not the best branch that I visited. They served the soup was it was all over the serving plate. The ravioli wt lobster and crab was hard on edges & tasted like mashrooms. The small portion had2 pieces
