Sam Choy's Kai Lanai

Wow spectacular place to watch the Kona sunset and the MaiTais are great too! The Ribeye steak was very tender and juicy one of the best I have ever eaten!! The Chocolate flourless cake was great too.

Cocktails and appetizers were great. Calamari and wings were standouts. Enjoyed the poke salads . Service was very good, but they weren't busy. Open, airy space was fun.

Don't listen to the bad reviews. Came here at 5 and enjoyed an excellent meal with my family. Great service , excellent food and amazing view . Wings and the fish trio standouts.

Tourist tip: Go for breakfast , prices are reasonable and portions are huge. Try the Pani Popo pancakes , so ono! One of the best views in Kona .

Although the address is Ali'i Dr, the restaurant actually sits on the hill at Kamehameha III Rd.

The pork chops are amazing as are all of the fish dishes ! Best view of any restaurant I've ever been to.

Location has a lot of potential but the place has the atmosphere of a bingo hall. Horrible lighting and in desperate need of an update. If you go skip dinner and enjoy a drink at sunset .

For dinner , get there early for a seat on the lanai to watch sunset , and then watch the fire in the middle of the table!

The fish trio was awesome. Definately best sunset view in Kona !

View is fabulous, service could have better timing, however, food was wonderful, wine list is very good, dessert was great. Not pricey .

4 of us out for dinner and honestly the worst tasteless and unseasoned Ribeye I've ever had. Daughter had a noodle bowl and the broth was tasteless. Lots of other choices in Kona choose there instead.

At the bar , wash down the famous shoyu poke with your choice of beer that they have on tap .

On the top of the hill . Great view !

His "Hawaiian Favorites" cookbook is really good, plus they provide some signed copies.

Fair prices love coming for lunch because of the view but where do they find the staff ? ....

Expect soup to be hot -- not lukewarm. The only soup on the menu and couldn't find potatoes in a chowder .

Service was pretty bad. Our waiter never even checked in at our table or refilled our waters. My rice was uncooked in areas and mushy in others. Food was mediocre. Amazing view though.
