Moonlight State Beach

My favorite place to take a walk...especially at low tide. It's perfect for receiving the great healing effects of the ocean and meeting up with friends.

Great for just about anything; if you plan to run on the beach to Swami 's, you may need to be a great swimmer once you get to the rocks!

A great beach for a family outing with a playground , showers and restrooms . Sunsets are also memorable at Moonlight Beach . For a memorable sunset , gather around a fire pit and roast marshmallows .

Great beach ! It has a concession stand and good bathrooms and showers ! We were there for the monthly concerts paid for by Encinitas! Here are some locals joining the band for a song “Happy Boy”.

New concession stand is great for an iced coffee in the AM! Also, sometimes you can see leopard sharks in the water!

Public parking is free with nice restrooms and showers . There are a few fire puts and volleyball nets. Wonderful beach

Water could get really close during high tide. Crowded at weekends but enjoyable overall. Beware of the sun, it’s strong! Make sure you spray sunscreen at least every two hours

One of the widest and most continious beaches in SD. Lots of parking on side streets. Surfers unite for sure.

The Surfrider Foundation does beach cleanups the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9-11.

The waves are awesome, life guards are great, snack bar has some very delicious acai

This is a great location for a beach wedding; I got married at the lookout point. It's perfect for Spring, Summer & Fall weddings. There's no fee, no reservation needed; first come basis.

Every third Saturday, Surfrider hosts a beach cleanup at Moonlight from 9-11a. They provide gloves/bags but you can bring your own. Super informal and easy to do. Show up anytime between 9 and 11!

Great place to homeschool or field trip. Sand is hard so it is great for jogging or walking.

my junior high hangout. loved the bonfires . swim just south of the crowd. the walk from moonlight to swami 's is very relaxing.

Love the free parking . But the concession stand isn't always open :(

If the tide is low, you can walk south to Swami 's. If the tide is high, prepare to get wet.
