The Tonkotsu Original ramen is awesome! Great pork flavor and awesome broth. I love adding menma bamboo and corn . The Ol' Skool that they do for lunch is really good too!

Peter Tsai

The tonkatsu ramen broth is great. Loved the egg and pork belly that are served with it. Also, the almond tofu is light and refreshing.

Brian

The Ol'Skool Ramen is a twist on a traditional dish . The dish is very satisfying and filling and I always order 3 extra eggs because they make the dish SINFUL.

Terence Chan

One of my top ramen places of all time! Definitely best in TX! Get the original w/spicy and corn bombs , Brussels sprouts and extra noodles . Also must try Katsu slider ! 4.5/5

Blake Biles

Super duper yummy!!! If you like it a little spicy I would go with the Miso-Hot with a spicy bomb ! But if you’re a plain gal like me and like it a little more mild the Miso-Not is perfect!

Rachel Hoovler

F-ing AMAZING!!!! The pork bowl with extra egg and brussel sprouts and a spicy bomb is to die for. Don't let the line scare you, it moves quickly and is totally worth the wait!

Rebeca Valenzuela

Great experience today. #1's, a slider (YUM), and salads . Our order got lost and the staff noticed it before we did! When the server Patrick saw me in line for mochi took care of it. Great service.

Austin Chronicle

Yes, the ramen is authentic and delicious, but it’s the spicy edamame tossed with citrus , fresh jalapeños , shichimi spice, and sea salt we're obsessed with. End your meal with the green tea mochi ice. Read more

Love this noodle house . My friend said it's always packed. We went 20 minute before they close on a Tuesday and we were golden. There was no line :) My Tonkotsu original was awesome!

Ryan Marrero

I should be more specific. I've tried pretty much every variation of ramen they have here, and they're all amazing in their own way. I generally tend to stick to the #1 (Original) or the #2.

This strip mall noodle shop sees patrons line up before the doors even open, in weather more suited to sno-cones than soup , for a taste of their small but expertly executed menu. [Eater 38 Member]

The tsukemen ramen is probably their best dish. The soup can get a little heavy so you can get one order with extra noodles to share between two.

Erin Giles

Ramen Tsukemen is dipping ramen . Don't dump the sauce into the noodles . Pick up some noodles with your chopsticks, dunk it in the sauce, bring it back out and slurp your way to heaven.

Peter Tsai

The sweet & sour yodas are grilled brussel sprouts that taste amazing in the rich tonkatsu broth. They cleanse your palate so the broth doesn't overwhelm. One order is enough for 2-3 people.

Elisabeth LaMotte

Don't let the somewhat run down shopping center fool you. Their ramen is so delicious that they usually have a line out the door. Don't worry, it moves fast!

Ramen Tatsu-ya may very well be the most authentic ramen in Japan, but they still aren't scared to experiment. Get there as close to dinner opening as you can — the line is often out the door.

Divya Mulanjur

Amazing ramen ! Loved thr tonkotsu original plus the firy spice bomb, especially the pork belly . Mi-so-hot is spicy and good.

Ashley Thompson

Awesome place! Get the number 2 or anyone really they are all delicious. Gotta go for the sliders and yodas as well ! You won't be disappointed.

Nate Hines

After trying Ramen around Austin we finally have It at the NYC-level of Ippudo and Totto. Great atmosphere and service! Can't wait for the expansion of the menu...sure to be great! Da-Bomb Diggity!

Jeremy Hermanns

Having lived in Little Tokyo LA for almost a decade, this is on par if not better than my fav Diakokuya. Awesome atmosphere and amazingly rich broth, as a new Austinite stoked to discover!

Rob Brown

Was really impressed by the quality of the ingredients. Next time I'll add more extras and extra noodles . Tonkatsu slider was yummy, but try the Yodas (sweet & sour Brussels sprouts )!

Frani Lieberman

Get the dipping ramen . Add Brussels. Dip noodles into a bowl of creamy pork crack (that is a compliment) and invite your friends pork , egg , seaweed and lime . Die happy.

Social News Network

One of Austin's only restaurants to get delicious ramen . It is dine-in only and seats 38 people. (So get there early!) Prices are reasonable. Restaurant has received praise from Vogue magazine, etc.

Caroline Umali

Want legit ramen . Then get any of the pork broth based. You can go for extras, but the standard tonkotsu is equally as tasty.

Sarah Mithani

Tip for all you non pork eaters! All broths are made with pork . A delicious alternative was the slider (made of beef ) and the sweet and sour yodas(Brussel sprouts ) were outstanding!!

Jen Wicka

Best Ramen I have had outside of Kyoto. The Original is creamy and delicate. The Mi-so-hot has great depth of flavor and nice kick. The Tonkatsu sliders are a must order as well .

Matt Gamboa

Best place in Austin for Tsukemen. It's not common to find the dish in the first place in many US cities and Tatsu-ya makes it well .

Lee Carter

Yeah there's a wait, but that's half the fun with places as good as this. It builds up the excitement and anticipation. Totally worth it. You can't go wrong with the original plus a spicy bomb .

Rami Ismail

I've been told hundreds of times the pork broth is amazing, but I don't eat pork . I've also been told the chicken broth is half as good, but that one is already amazing.

Jessica Duong

The tsukemen (dipping ramen ) is worth the extra dollars. The noodles are chewier and the thick broth on the side is flavorful, savory and coats the noodles perfectly.

Michael Hernandez

Best ramen you'll ever get in town . The original is creamy, savory, relatively balanced but I'd add a spicy bomb to cut thru the richness. At 5:30 on a Fri, I didn't wait in line all.

Ryan Marrero

Also, the Sweet and Sour yodas (Brussels sprouts ) are amazing, and the sliders are to die for. More is better in the ramen . Last visit, I added extra corn , Brussels, and garlic .

Gabriel Figueroa

Vegans and vegetarians beware: the tofu in the "veggie " ramen is deep fried with meat. If you have ever worked around a deep fryer or with tofu , you know that this is basically soaking up meat juices .

Danielle Rios

For first timers, try the #1 and the slider . Ask for a spicy bomb to take it up a notch if that's your thing.

Peter Tsai

Cocopioca is the bomb! It's like an Asian coconut tapioca dessert meets a strawberry parfait - but refined. I expect to eat something like this in a nice restaurant

Kimberly Folse

There are no words to express how delicious this place is. You must experience it for yourself.

Rod Mercado

Ajitama (extra egg ) and chili bomb are the way to go on a cold day!

Brian

Try the delicious sweet and sour yodas - fried Brussels sprouts tossed in apricot vinegar with a curry spice.

Julius Tarng

Solid ramen . Corn bomb and spicy bomb (not spicy really). The Brussels are real good, as is the kimchelada

Serious Eats

The fresh, thin noodles , made by their "noodle-guy" in LA, are so perfectly toothsome they could make any Italian grandma cry.

Robert G

Everything is good here..but...Be sure to try the sweet and sour yodas ...what a treat...

David Sassen

The sweet and sour yodas are good (roasted brussel sprouts ), and I recommend beni shoga as a ramen topping - it's pickled ginger .

Michael Champagne

I love that Austin is a town that a niche restaurant like this can thrive in. Best ramen that I've found. Also worth the wait.

Allan Solomon

Japan quality Ramen ! One of my favorite restaurants in the US.

Michael Muse

Awesome! Pretty heavy/rich ramen , in a good way. Get the egg . Get two. Seriously, the egg is SO good

Brook Shelley

This broth will make you cry. It's that good. The chashu and egg are also bonkers tasty. Worth the

Alejandro Rodriguez

Frigin awesome, a bit hidden but if you adventure out this is a MUST if you go to Austin. NOODLES ARE AWESOME

Seth Mason

Unlike a lot of places in Austin, the line is actually worth the wait and the staff is pretty helpful rather than a bunch of folks sitting around trying to be hip or trendy .

Devi Hollebeke

Everything about the ramen is delicious- pork belly , eggs , mushrooms , and the noodles . The broth though is the biggest draw
