Lincoln visited here 3 times. In 1859, he spoke from the east steps. In 1861, he visited Governor William Dennison & found out he won the 1860 election and lastly in 1865 after he was assassinated.
Don't be intimidated! The statehouse is open to all public, seven days a week. Since its renovation, it is a place marvelous to visit.
Very cool. Each of the statues outside the statehouse has a plaque with a phone number. Call the number to get more information about the statue .
It's an impeccable piece of architecture mixed with rich history... It definitely gonna worth your time
Have always loved the rotunda ! The museum space and gift shop are great too. Found some unique pieces by Ohio artists .

Cool architecture . Really likes the war letter walls. William McKinley, not so much.
Free guided tours are offered Monday through Friday on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 3 p.m.

This building was built at the start of the Civil War, approximately around 1861. The statehouse took a total of 22 years to be built and in 1996 was restored to its original brilliance.
Go inside and see the history, ask to tour the building, I actually watched a legislation meeting once here when I was a teenager.
Take the free guided tour . My 9 year old enjoyed it.

Gyro stand on broad st in front of the rhodes tower is the best gyro in columbus.
Look up. The ceilings are amazing.

Movie buffs might recognize the Ohio Statehouse in the 2000 movie “Traffic,” where scenes from a press conference take place on the historic building’s steps.
Try the Capitol Cafe in the basement . Great cheap lunch and always free punch!
