Historically significant tavern in Boston. The original Patriots of Boston are said to have met here to discuss plans for the Tea Party. Now get your drink on and soak up the history with a pint!
The oldest bar in Boston . It's not the original place it moved over. But the history and lore is there. Great quotes align the bar . Bartenders are awesome. Great prices. Decent bar food . Good ol time!
Original location was on Union street and a frequent meeting place for the Sons of Liberty. Its name comes from the large copper dragon sculpture in the front and that oxidized, turning green.
The lobster roll and irish curry fries were both really great. Skip the Green Dragon Brew , it's like bud light or something. Cool place, would come back.
Great atmosphere in a beautiful, historis neighborhood , about 2-3 blocks from the original location. (The original was located about on the far side of the parking garage between here & Haymkt T stn)
Try the The Balvenie Double Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky - The Green Dragon has been fueling rebellion since 1687, long before Paul Revere drank here. #Boston #nevertrump (via @Foodspotting)
Friendly Irish staff and a great cover band on weekends - the Swinging Johnsons (at least when I lived in Boston). Good combination of college students and young professionals.
We called and requested a reservation for 5:30pm and arrived at 5:15pm to learn that they don't take reservations ! Great small lively pub with good food.
The Irish Curry Cheese Fries are amazing. French Onion soup is a bit bland, but not bad. Seriously, though, get the curry cheese fries . They are fantastic
A great pit stop if you're walking the freedom trail ! Interesting history and good apps & drinks. Def try the blueberry shandy !
Referred to as "HQ of the Revolution." Original pub was located on Union St & established in 1654. Copper dragon outside front door turned green due to weather, thus its name. More info in blog.<LINK> Read more
The curry fries are out of this world, and the fish and chips are absolutely incredible! Great prices on beer and ton on tap .
Cold beer ???? with great bar food ???? and tons of history . 8/10/16
One of the oldest taverns in america! Good draft beers and plenty of live shows.
To really enjoy the place for its history and beer , avoid Friday and Saturday night. It just feels like a club then.
The history gets fuzzy about this place in particular, but we do know the Sons of Liberty hung out at a place called the Green Dragon .
It's moving to sit at the bar and drink a beer . Do it, if for just one.
In keeping with historic tradition, the owners of the Green Dragon apparently haven't cleaned the tap lines since the War for American Independence.
Good night time spot. Like the local beer selection . Place just has good atmosphere.
I have to say the Green Dragon House Ale tastes surprising, a lot like Miller Lite! Not a Fan!
Sits on a cool cobble side street in the north end and next two multiple little bars doing the same thing.
Have the Sam Adams brick red beer ...served only in Boston (delicious!)
St. Andrews Lodge of Freemasons purchased this Tavern in 1766. They used the 1st floor for mtgs, & basement tavern was used by secret groups, becoming known as the "Headquarters of the Revolution". Read more
Classic Boston Irish pub with incredible history.
Good atmosphere in a historic location. They have Magner's Pear Cider too!
Established in 1654 The Green Dragon was a favorite haunt of Paul Revere (Whom we consider a close Neighbor) and John Hancock (who’s brother lived next door!).
Great atmospherebut food... Fries were overcooked in old oil, served cold;the fish and chips was fried in cold old oil, the lobster roll was prepared with a baguette bread . Not great experience
Great place to have a cold Guinness after a trek through the Freedom Trail .
Band was great and pub wasn't uncomfortably packed unlike some of the others in the area.
Do not get the Green Dragon Brew !
Great irish pub . Try the shepherds pie potato skins
For anyone from Baltimore: the Dragon Summer Brew is pretty much exactly like Natty Boh .
Awesome burgers , cocktails , wine and beer .
Curry cheese fries are very good. A different spin on classic chili cheese fries .
This place smells like a hybrid of butt and chowder . Decently prices beers .
Some of the best fish and chips I've had. Love their cajun haddock too.
Boston Brick Red is awesome
Great bar ! Love the decor
Ask for Whitey. Tell him Blacky sent ya.
None of my group of six liked the food. Good atmosphere & beer .
Stop by for a beer
They SUCK. They didn't serve us water when asked AND the proceeded to not serve us anymore after we had a few drinks and were behaving. I've never been so insulted in a bar before in my entire life.
Good place to grab a drink but good luck getting a table
If you're coming here after 9pm and don't have a US driver's licence, make sure you have your passport or you won't get in! Yep, Canadians too... Disappointing!
Yes yes yes yes yes. The dive bar of my life.
Great scotch selection
Touristy , but still worth checking out. Grab the table in the window for great people watching .
My 2 favorite things about this bar...gorgeous host and very cool dispencer in the ladies room
Great beers and a ton of history !
Home of the American Revolution. Get your history on!
Had the most fun here in Boston on an early Friday afternoon. Met people at the bar that we left as friends and are still in touch. Don't miss it! - Lori-Jo S
Best oysters I have ever had! Make a reservation, the place is always packed - Missi Howell
You can see the whole house in about 25 minutes. - Marcia Miller
Loved it. Great live band, cheap drinks, friendly staff. From an out-of-towner -- Recommend! - Brad Stephens
