KAMAKURA IS WOBDERFUL , but Absolutely do not have a picnic in the open .I GOT ATTACKED BY AN HAWK ..and those are big dangerous bird..just be aware of this ..especially at the beach ..

This shrine was dedicated to the Emperor Ojin, his mother Empress Jingu and his wife Hime-gami. built in 1063.

If you are with someone that cannot climb the stairs, walk around and use the last gate, you will be in the top of the Shrine .

神奈川県及び鎌倉を代表する神社 で、別称は鎌倉八幡宮 。祭神は応神天皇・比売神・神功皇后。康平6年 (1063年) 源頼義が、石清水八幡宮 の分霊を鎌倉の由比郷鶴岡に勧請したことに始まる。後、源頼朝が現在地へ移し、源氏の守護神として鎌倉幕府の尊崇を受けた。9月16日に行われる流鏑馬は有名で、鎌倉初代将軍源頼朝ゆかりの神社 として全国の八幡社の中では知名度が高く観光 客が数多く訪れる。

毎年1月5日の朝10時より、ここ鶴岡八幡宮 にて恒例行事として『除魔神事』が行われる。「除魔神事」は、源頼朝が幕府において「御的始」あるいは「御弓始」と称して行った武家の事始めを起源とし、弓矢には古来より魔を退ける力があるとされている。舞殿には、御神酒や鯛、鏡餅等がお供えされていました。

初詣は三ヶ日は大変混雑いたします。混雑を避けたいのでしたら、朝6時または夜17時過ぎが狙い目です。三ヶ日以降でしたら比較的混雑は解消されますが、屋台 が減り授与所も早めに閉まりますのでご注意ください。

赤ん坊連れにはおむつ替え場所が整備されててよい。周囲の小町通りの店ではあまりないので。お参りは階段 を上らないとできないので、おぶってあがらないとだめ。おみくじ は巷ではちょっと有名だが平気で凶・大凶が入っている。それ専用の結び場がある。

江戸時代の末までは鶴岡八幡宮寺でした。裏手には「二十五坊跡」という碑があり、そこは僧侶が住む僧房があったことを示しています。

池 に鷺と亀がいた。鶴であったら完璧。

平成30年正月に新しく発売された鶴岡八幡宮 の御朱印帳袋。御朱印所で購入できます。￥1,000。

初詣になりました。二礼二拍手一礼を終え振り向くと、鎌倉の街並みとその先の海が一望できて気持ち良い。

藤の開花時期は4月中旬〜5月上旬です。源氏池 休憩所 近くの柴の藤棚と旗上弁財天の中の白藤棚が見どころです。拝観料は無料。

鎌倉・江の島七福神のひとつ。御朱印は若宮近くの社務所にていただけます。旗上弁財天社を含め御朱印は２種類です。

本殿の前の石段で鎌倉幕府3代将軍の源実朝が暗殺されました。

階段 を上る前の右手に休憩室の建物があります。ここの1F奥にカーテンで仕切られた授乳スペース有。狭いですが鎌倉では貴重な場所。ベビーベッドもあるのでオムツ替えも可。

参道を長く見せるために鳥居に近づくほど道幅が狭くなる。

ひっそりとした小さい神社 ですが、いろんなイベント が開かれています。私のお願いをよく聞いていただける頼りになる神社 です。

周辺は慢性的に車が渋滞してます。公共交通機関 と徒歩での鎌倉散歩をお勧めします。鳩サブレーをお土産 に買おう！

イチョウ の木 はなくなってしまいましたが、雰囲気はそのまま。

近年は正月に行くと本宮手前で人数規制がかかる。また、江ノ電バスが臨時増発され、通常運用では存在しない戸塚駅東口行きが運行される。
