Best museum I ever been to. Interesting, interactive and available in English! A lot of information and very friendly , with activities for kids from time to time. Don't forget to download the app!!
The museum is huge. Allocate at least 2-4 hours if you're a museum buff or if you want to maximize the experience. You can get an English audio guide at the ground floor to listen to while walking.
Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi (who also designed New York's MoMA), this minimalist, modern building houses over 300 objects from the 7th and 8th centuries donated by the Horyuji Temple .
The museum has different buildings and a beautiful garden ! It is big and u need some hours to cover all different parts! It’s a good place to know about Japanese culture , art , samurais !
Get ready to spend hours in this fine museum which houses artifacts and articles on the topic of Japan from the paleolithic era up to the Edo Period. A must visit while in Tokyo.
This was an incredible museum with many historical exhibits that took my breath away. I would love to return and see more someday.
Beautiful & affordable museum . It gets stuffy in the hot months, but plenty of chairs and lounges are available to sit when you need. The national treasures cannot be photographed (but are online!) 😉
The Museum’s garden is a must visit. Schedule 3-4 hours for this, it’s big, with multiple buildings and sitting outside by the pond is so relaxing!
Make sure to plan with enough time for this museum as it has a lot to offer and you can easily spend half a day here.
Quite perfect architecture and nice exhibition . Must visit place if you are in Tokyo!! Highly recommended!!
Nice museum , 100% worth visiting. Keep in mind though that a) it’s huge and b) they close at 17-00. So would be a good idea to come early.
There are many great things to see. Best, if you just want to get a glimpse, is to walk through and only stop when something pleases you.
The main exhibition is really impressive! Everything is translated in english, therefore super easy for foreigners :)
Samurai armors and weapons in exhibition are awesome. And be sure to check the ukiyo-e on display.
Great museum . You can wander around for hours. Download their NAVI for an audio for of each room.
You can find interesting pieces from Japanese history , from samurai swords to geisha kimonos 🗡👘 a must see in Tokyo
Good option to know more about Japan evolution!!! Take 5 hrs to visit the museum !!! Great value
Filming location for drama Hanzawa Naoki where the staircase is the entrance to Tokyo Central Bank
Beautiful building, interesting information! Outside area is also nice!!! Loved!
The highlights on the 2nd floor are worth a visit if you need an introduction to Japanese culture . Only 620 ¥
Worth the price to see, 3 building to see (another one is closing). Get a discount from a map of Tokyo that you can get from tourist information
Worth a visit specially if you have children with you. Don't miss the 360 Theater experience!
WiFi password #1: 1089wifi. WiFi password #2: T1089
Do not rent the English audio guide . There is no way to control the guide besides the 2 buttons. Play and stop (which resets from the beginning) Huge rip off.
interesting expo about biology and origin. Less technical more for kids to explore and learn.
Get a good overview of japanese history .
Check the samurai suit on 2/F and other ancient military stuffs.
Good collection of art and historical artifacts
Dont miss the old military exhibition on the second floor!
pay your visit to master hokusai
Be sure to call and check hours. Guidebook said open til 8 on Fridays but actually closes at 5.
Bring along 100yen to keep your luggage/bags in the free storage (deposit).
This was a slight disappointment. It's more of an archaeological museum . We were hoping for a more historical museum
second floor is must-go place
good luck and hope
Open from 9:30-5pm
You get to creat a Kimono postcard for free.
muzium adat jepun
The museum has a nice garden .
None of the most known pieces were at display, it was kind of disappointing!
