From Ramrod in 1967 until KOK Bar in 2013, 1225 Folsom was the home of (in)famous gay leather bars . Look in the bathroom for a rather large tribute to KOK Bar , the last of the seedy occupants.

The cocktails are straightforward and spirituous; we like the Bosun's Knot, an old-fashioned with a green Chartreuse and coffee bean kick, and a classic Last Word or Vesper are also good options.

There's a cosy area in the back with a leather couch that's great for enjoying a cocktail or two.
