National 228 Memorial Museum

Most exhibits in Chinese only; grab an auto guide from info desk. It took me a while to realise why it was on repeat: tap the guide against RDIS card at each exhibit to play that section. No numbers.

Interesting museum on a very specific point in Taiwan’s history. Grab an auto guide!

日本統治期に台湾教育 会館として建てられた。光復後は台湾省参議会の建物として利用 され、本省人エリートが集う場所になった。二二八事件では、参議会議 員などの本省人エリートの多くが弾圧を受けたことから、二二八事件犠牲者の名誉回復を進めるための記念館として運営されている。美しい建築 とあわせて見学 したい。

日本統治時代の台湾教育 会館で、光復後は台湾省議会として利用 された。設計は辰野・葛西建築 事務所での設計経験もある井手薫で 1931 年完成。井手はこの後も司法大廈 (台湾総督府高等法院: 1934 年)、中山堂 (台北公会堂: 1936 年)、行政院 (台北市役所: 1940 年) など旧台北城 近辺の近代建築 を手掛けており、見比べるのも一興。

此為南海路泉州街口的「二二八國家紀念館」，與228和平公園内的「台北二二八紀念館」不同，勿將兩地點合併，謝謝！
