和田倉門の由来は、この辺りに「和田倉」という名の大きな倉が２つあったからという説と、家康が江戸入りした時、すでにこの地は「和田倉」という村落であったという説がある。

主に幕府の要職者が登下城する門の一つとして利用されていたとされる桔梗門は、別名「内桜田門」ともいい、三の丸の南門です。桔梗門も桔梗濠を渡って最初の門をくぐると右側に第二の門があり、カギ型に曲がった「枡形門」になっています。ここも通常は立ち入り禁止の門で、新年の一般参賀と天皇誕生日の一般参賀、その他特別なイベントの時のみとなります。 - ジンジン????????
