Almost always incredibly busy (10am and 7pm on weekdays is the ideal time to go) but one of the best - if not the best - produce selections in the area.
MB is amazing. Great produce, excellent selection of hipster vegan products , quail eggs ,and prices that cannot be beat. That said, DO NOT get a cart and don't expect to browse any time after 10:30 AM.
Sunday mornings are probably the best time to go. Actually scratch that - there's never a good time to go. Come out of your corner punching, and protect yourself at all times. This place is crazy.
always packed, but always cheap . great affordable fresh produce section and good quality store brand products.
Major design flaw in the back set up with the stands in front of the meat, but some of the best deals in town if you can brave the in-store traffic jams .
Everything is always decently priced. Most of the day it's swarming with people, but when I ring up my groceries I remember why I love it so much ! ????
If you need deli items , grab a number and go do the rest of your shopping. Come back 10-15 minutes later, and you'll be called right up!
Always a zoo . Lots of great fresh fruits and vegetables . Starting to have more organic produce . Take a breath and dive in.
The parking lot is large but always busy. TRY to just use alt transpo (bike , bus , walk). their Produce Section can't be beat for price, selection & quality. SRSLY.

Has a lot of cheap shitty food, but has excellent food too. Don't buy the bread near the front (its all HFCS). Good bread is in the produce area.
Crazy Basket. If you ever find yourself feeling too relaxed, come here for a healthy dose of stress.
Great prices, but queues tend to be very long. Go early!
Expect to take some time navigating their always crowded aisles, but be rewarded by the cheapest groceries in the area. Time is money? Well try it the other way round
Go early morning to avoid rush! Great deals! Definitely my new grocery store !
Awesome combo of great prices and rare finds not at most supermarkets .
They have a surprisingly good selection of vegan food including Tofutti (cream cheese + ice cream ), cheese , Meredith farms vegan burgers , etc.
The deli line takes so long. Grab a ticket and do all your shopping. Bet you'll still be waiting for your number.
Don't forget to bring your own bags or request to use the least plastic when possible or else you will leave with 50 plastic bags per item.
Back right corner are the veggies from yesterday. Great deal!
There is no such thing as a quick trip to market basket. Be prepared to fight for space in aisles packed with customers and employees frantically trying to restock shelves.
This place is a mad house! Make a strategy plan and execute it to perfection.
Weekday mornings are your best bets to beat a crowd. Also - be careful in the parking lot . People drive crazy and I've seen someone get rear-ended there.
Their produce section is seriously a value. Lots of variety, fresh, low prices bc they can count on people buying it.
Everywhere has one to find something to eat!
Their organic produce section keeps getting better and better!
Bring 2 people- 1 to shop, 1 to wait in line (3 if you want to get something at the deli ). Also, avoid in general.
Shopping here is blood sport , especially right before the early close at 7pm on Sunday nights. Go in with a battle plan and have patience.
Good prices, good produce, crazy clientele.
Earlier advice is go in the early afternoon. Also try weekend mornings, esp. Sunday when everyone's at church .
Try and go during an off hour to avoid the rush.
Don't go on the weekend. Just don't. But DO shop here. The prices are amazing!
Great prices, great produce. Go in the early afternoon on a weekday if you do not want to shop in a crowd. Otherwise, you're out of luck.
Go very early in the morning or parking is out of the question.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
They have good seafood with awesome cheap price!!
Most stressful place I have ever shopped and yet boyfriend insists on returning
Try the one in lexington ma lot less crowed...
Absolutely packed from opening to closing. Avoid unless you go early and even then...
Do not drive here if u can help it parking is rough. Its almost always crazy busy inside
Stupid policy of requiring a market basket card to use a check. You lost a sale and many more in the future with this policy.
Business model is clearly 98% cost leadership and 2% differentiation.
Deli department is always a show.
Sunday at 1 pm is not a good time to come here :)
Be aggressive, B E aggressive, for serious otherwise you could end up trapped in the dairy aisle
No lines at 10am Tuesday!
Here at end of month is good. No welfare food stamp folk
Come for the ambience.
Not the best grocery store around.
Hell on earth but the lowest prices in town .
It's a huge store, one whole section dedicated to Nature's Promise goods. - A S
The Porter Square Star is spiffier but this Star Market is sooo much easier - lots of parking, not too crowded, and a full-serve 15 items or less line. My favorite Star Market by far. - Liz B
Seem to always be stocking shelves no matter when I go. Seems well-managed! - Rebecca M
Great stop for spices, great variety. Paneer! Things aren’t well-labeled in terms of produce. - Rebecca M
Lots of stuff without the foot traffic of some of the other squares. - Brian Manning
