Top Dog

I obsessed with the regular Top Dog. But I've tried others and they're pretty much all slammin. I don't get out to Berkeley often, but when I do.... Top Dog is a must on the destination front.

Berkeley classic. My favorite is the calabrese with spicy Russian mustard topped with sauerkraut . DO NOT order a "hot dog " – you will be ridiculed per Top Dog tradition – order a "top dog" instead

Check out the scene at the mustard bar ! When I was a kid there was a pack of cigs bought for almost every dog sold. Used to restock through hole high up in the wall.

The Bockwurst and Hot Link dogs are amazing. The bread is nice and you can taste that the sausages are homemade . They are not very big, so get two when you're there.

Chicken apple is definitely the way to go.

Starting around 10am on Cal game days, I eat at least 2 or 3... or 7. Faves: lemon chicken and Louisiana hot link . Fresh buns . They do frozen/vacuum-packed if you want to take them home. Cash only .

Shoot the shit with whoever's working at the time (if there's not a long line ). Every person I've encountered working here is super friendly and always has a story to tell.

The lemon chicken is my go to. Can't go wrong with that one. Their spicy mustard is pretty off the hook too.

They do have a veggie dog , and its quite good, especially if you like cumin seeds. Only issue is that it's cooked on the same grille.

i practically lived on top dog during my college years. the lemon chicken is the best hot dog ...on earth, possibly.

my personal favorites are the mango jalapeno chicken sausage , lemon chicken sausage and chicken apple sausage !

The spicy Russian mustard will clear your sinuses in a heartbeat but SO worth it.
