1958 eröffnete der Kinobetreiber Willi Goldermann in Düsseldorf das Savoy als erstes Filmkunstkino der Stadt. Regisseure wie Truffaut, Hitchcock und Schlöndorff kamen zu ihren Filmpremieren. 1999 wurde es durch das Aufkommen der Multiplexe geschlossen, um 2006 wieder eröffnet zu werden.
