Fantastic and inventive Oaxacan food . Everything was great, including the short rib mole , tuna tostada , beef tongue tacos , and scallop aguachille. Eat in the backyard . Cocktails were great, too.
New kid on the block, good cocktails (mezcal based) and food. It's not your typical Mexican but worth a try. Ask for an outdoor seat if the weather is nice!
The tortillas here are so damn good. Asparagus-avocado tostada (seasonal), barbacoa tacos , mushroom memela , and the short rib mole negro (with an order of tortillas to go with!) are all exceptional.
Really cozy and new mexican place in the neighborhood ! The shrimp ceviche was amazing!!!!great mezcal cocktail suggestion and outdoors! Skip the chorizo plate.
The yellowtail ceviche appetizer is phenomenal. At $42 the barbacoa is not a great value — you're better off getting a few extra items from the menu. Good cocktails as well .
Dishes like mole amarillo feature chicken layered with green beans and potatoes in an orange-yellow sauce, perfect for sopping up with blandas made from Mexican corn that is nixtamalized. Read more
Delicious authentic Mexican by way of Oaxaca. The yellowfin tostada is fantastic. Drinks are very boozy/medicinal. Would actually pass on the mole , our least favorite
Mezcal flights were fun! They have a whole book of mezcal . Get the duck with mole .. it melted in my mouth. All other dishes were delicious!
Bar program is excellent, tortillas are out of this world - pulpo & tocino are fire
Amazing umami food. Their food ingredients are so fresh. You're able to taste the distinctive taste of every component as you chew on it.
We had the prix fixe dinner and it was delicious! I will say, though, that I've had more complex mole at my local taco spot . (It's a fantastic taco spot .)
unreal new Oaxacan spot in gowanus. everything was good, but don’t skip the mole or the cheek tacos . cocktails are absurdly tasty.
The menu changes a lot, but the moles were standouts and I’d highly recommend them as it seems to be where they shine (rojo and negro alike)
Aquachile verde, pulpo y tocino tostada , chipotle shrimp tacos and mole rojo with pork cheek - all unbelievably good.
Cozy neighborhood Mexican spot with really tasty different stuff. The crab tostada and the mole dishes are outstanding.
Great socially distanced outdoor patio , with excellent prix fix (brunch , dinner ) and cocktails
Everything is great but the barbacoa and mole were standouts
Yellowfin tuna tostada was terrific, everything else was... fine. Plus a forgotten order by our server led us to having dinner after 10pm.
My first time in Gowanus was memorable because of Claro. Everything my party got was absolutely delicious!
Delicious traditional Oaxacan food but the food price needs to be tweaked.
Vibe, outdoor space , staff , food, etc!!!
Excellent mole , everything is deliciously complex
any mezcal cocktail is great - barbacoa tacos or pork memela
Authentic Oaxacan food experience. Highly recommend the tostadas and mole
I appreciate them grinding their own Masa on site but the result are less impressive tortillas than at a $5 taqueuria
The food is great. But the portions are too small for the price in my opinion. The drinks are a little too sweet or boozy .
Try their frozen corn colada !
The back patio is lovely.
Everything is delicious. Sit outside!
paid my monthly salary for five ~small plates ~ and waited for a show-stopper to come out the kitchen and change my life... turns out all of their food is pretty mediocre. oops!
Dessert chocolate and berry was amazing!
Very good. New 1 Michelin Star Restaurant .
Tosatadas were fantastic
Pricey but tasty tapas
2022 Michelin Guide 1 Star
Mole for the win!
Food is good but absolutely NOT worth the price ????
TO Top NYC 2019
Don't come here for brunch . Literally the worst service I've come across. Food is good tho.
NYT Top New Restaurants ** (4/2018): "Aguachile de cálamar ; tostada de cabeza; yellowfin-tuna tostada; chorizo memela ; María Sabina memela ; all moles ."
Tacos are all excellent. They cover a lot of bases that might ordinarily be spread across 3 adjacent taqueria stands, but they were all very good. Solid basic marg and mezcal. - Andy K
Solid spot! Like chorizo and beef tacos best. Al pastor could skip the next time. - Jarel Hill
So happy this is open! Thoughtful cocktails, pleasant staff, gorgeous space! - Jaime
Great place to bring visiting friends. Just be ready to put up with lots of bros and basics. But great music, cocktails and fun games - Umair Zia
