Hainanese-style "Western" food: 1 of last few places in SG serving as close 2 d authentic old way Hainanese chefs prepared pork chops , steak , etc. They even hand-cut their fries :-D
Old school Hainanese place. Old folks here ran this place since British officers lived in Portadown. Don't expect modern western food . Lots of beer . Dog friendly . I like chicken curry , roast chickeb
Quaint ulu place for cool beer out ..ordered battered fish and wedges ... not too greasy but to crispy perfection.. definitely back for more of environment and affordable food !
Twice Tangled IPA ($16 for 500ml, 5.2% ABV). Double hopped. Very aromatic. Enjoyed this. From Dorset, tracing history all the way to 1777
Pork cutlet ($16) vs pork chop ($14). Pork cutlet is breaded & deep-fried. Pork chop is roasted
Rice costs $0.80. This is quite yummy! Hainanese pork chop ... Moist and crisp pieces of pork ! And the sauce ???????? old school!
Sirloin steak chips & peas ($25) was very filling. Great for those looking for a high protein meal
Egg curry . The same aromatic gravy , now with half boiled eggs . Simple pleasures. Good for sharing
Try their Chicken Maryland ! It comes with a piece of fried banana too! This place is really nostalgic.
This place usually close at 12am. They have vast variety of chider for you to choose from. The normal can drink which u can find in coffee shops are expensive . Its quite a retro place.
Chicken omelette ($12) was filling. Wished there were some veges to pair with the savoury
Fried bee hoon . Comforting & savoury. Order this if u r a carb fan
Very nice and laid back place to spend you lazy afternoon here, everything is delicious here, especially the ice lemon tea
Not enough space to list extensive drinks: Belhaven, Brothers Badger, Bishops Finger, Brakspear Oxford, Scarlet Macaw, Marston's Oyster , Wainwright, Fullers , Lancaster Bomber, Old Thumper, Old Rosie
Bottled British Ales, Beers , Porters , Stouts and Ciders . Kopi house and traditional naafi food.
Sweet sour pork . Yummy! Eat it while it has been freshly fried ????????
Savoury chicken curry , eaten with hot fragrant rice . Simple pleasures ☺️
$18 for this premium King Goblin Imperial Ruby beer (alc vol 6.6%, 500ml), compared to Tiger (5%, 633ml) $10.50
There are 2 types of pork chop : Western or Hainanese style . The Chinese serving is wet, with the sauce pour over the cutlet
Chicken Maryland . As locally unique as it gets with the fried banana !
Fried sole fish . Interesting seafood offering. Deep fried, sweet flavours
Mrs Tan 's chicken curry is legendary. A must have. Great selection of cider and perry. Relaxed, enjoyable mains and ciders around $12
Comfort western food . Good atmosphere. Tiny but nice sandwiches without crust order them as a side.
Relaxed rustic atmosphere with ok food and drinks. Albeit a little pricey but small price to pay for the rustic charm which is disappearing from Singapore all too fast.
They have local zichar dishes but pricey . $8 for this plate of fried bee hoon , wet style. U will be better off choosing the less common dishes like Chicken Maryland
Pork chop is ok,very traditional hainanese style . Price a little steep but still ok,as the environment offers u a temporary quiet getaway. Do not expect thick creamy soup here though.
Although known more for the local-styled Western kinda food, my fav here is the Hor Fun/Bee Hoon with Gravy ! Delicious!
The restaurant is a dilapidated shack, chairs are rickety... ! Expect to spend at least $20 a person... A good crowd!
Fried rice $6.50 & fried rice special $8.00, diff just for an egg . Choose wisely. Fried rice is good though and curry 's pretty alright. Skip the egg curry - it's just hard boiled eggs with curry .
They have a smoking section towards the back of the main hall
They also sell local Chinese favourites such as horfun, which is tasty but lacks the ‘wok hei’
Wide variety of beer , ale and cider in this old school place. Serves Hainanese western and Chinese food .
A good brunch . Combi if sunny side up with bake beans . Breaded chic chop with chips . Finally a desert of banana fritters to top it of. Chix tad bit salty though.
A standard can of soda is now $3!
It's a blast from the past kind of a place...good chill out but mind the Mosquitos
Chicken curry : Our family's all-time fave. We even dip our fries wif d leftover curry . Delish Haha!
Gd combi of brunch . Sunny side up with bake beans , bacon and a grilled tomato . Breaded chix chop with chips . Banana fritters to finish it off.
Ice cream soda .. is oso known as the ice cream and cream soda over here..
Fish and chips , cheese omelette , beef curry , fried mee
This is their $8 sausages sandwich
Prawn curry . Yummy. $20!
They give vinegar the the fries .
Pretty good for what I think was off the beaten path SIN
Bitter & aromatic stout by Shepherd Neame
Chup swee ($15). Stir-fried mixed vege & 2 midsized prawns . Served with rice . Decent but not worth the price
Original Singapore feeling. Great casual lunch place
Chicken sandwich really means chicken + bread only!
Very nice ambience. Excellent location for relaxing.
old school ambience, away from hustle & bustle.
Good food, no pretence. Fish and chips are tasty, but quite small. Chips are GREAT.
