Watkins Glen State Park is a state or provincial park Watkins Glen located in United States.
433 S Franklin St Watkins Glen , NY 14891 United States
It's a must in the Finger Lakes but the stairs (especially at the end going up) are tough. Good news is you can reward yourself with local beer or wine at the end and take a shuttle back to the bottom
Get here early!! By 10am there are bus loads of tourists taking photos from every angle. Get here early to enjoy the scenic views to yourself.
The Gorge trail is so amazing. Go before noon on a weekday if you can to avoid a lot of tourists . Wear good shoes as part of the trail is wet because of the waterfalls partly falling on the trail
Prepare for the hike ! If you need to take it easy on stairs , start at the top and walk down, but make sure the free shuttle is running that day to get you back up. Ice cream at the bottom too!
What a gem. This has to be one of the most unique and delightful state parks I’ve been to. Gorge Trail and its many caverns, under-waterfall passageways, and overlooks was just stunning.
I make it a point to walk this glen every time we come to the Finger Lakes . I love this place. It's magical. Check out the cemetery as you come down from the top. You see something new every time!
A must! Do the gorge trail all the way up to the top. Wear good sneakers or closed shoes as the path is slippery, especially closed to the waterfalls .
Amazing park ! Great for hiking and nice views . Gorge Trail is the most scenic and is 832 steps to the top. (Stairs are broken up into sets of 20-40 so it's more manageable.)
This is definitely a must see if in the Finger Lakes region . The gorge trail is fun and you see how the water has cut and eroded through the rock. The whole trail is surreal and very picturesque.
One of NY's most beautiful state parks ! Absolutely loved hiking in the gorges. And the camping was next to perfect. Sites are decently sized and well secluded from one another. Definitely recommend!
Nice campground with private spots. We were in 3 in Cayuga. But the showers were set to extremely hot, like to hot for a child. Since it was 90 degrees outside you weren’t taking a shower to cool off
Despite what other tippers claim, the views walking from the bottom up are better, so suck-it-up and get ready to climb some stairs !
The focus of USS Accord's Watkins Glen Weekend. A beautiful state park in New York's Finger Lakes region , STARFLEET chapter USS Accord holds a hike each fall. Everyone is invited to join in!
The Gorge trail is amazing as it traverses the different waterfalls . One of my favorite hikes in NY.
Amazingly trail with spectacular waterfalls ! Bring rain gear and be prepared for stairs with great hiking shoes all the way! Well worth the visit.
Take the $3 shuttle to the top, and wallk the gorge in reverse. It's much more pleasant going downhill and the view is exactly the same.
Very cool but can be extremely crowded . Can feel a little like cattle
It's always a good walk up. The last staircase will kill you. After you takes break at the top for awhile. Take the indian trail back down. Cross the bridge and go down to couches staircase.
The swimming pool with the Adirondack chairs is amazing. Probably the best swimming pool in all state parks .
This is probably the most gorgeous park in all of New England!
there are lots of steps and walking but worth it . good amount of selfies to do with ur partner .
The gorge trail is awesome, don't be intimidated by the steps (there are only 800 of them, lol) because the view is breathtaking.
Some of the best views of the Finger Lakes and glacial trails . Not for kids or folks with heart/breathing issues, as there is a lot of climbing.
Bring a good pair of comfortable hikers or sneakers with good treads. Gorgeous place, also slippery in places. Be careful, but enjoy the journey!!
If climbing up isnt the thing for u, take a bus up to the top then walk down the Gorges trail ! The view is as nice and not so straining.
Hike the entire way up and the entire way back! Great workout and beautiful nature!
The gorge is a great hike . Bring water. Avoid tourist buses . You'll do great.
Start early before the crowds. But have patience and you can get great shots without humans. In a hurry? Too bad for you.
Another of the state parks in the area with breathtaking nature walks along waterfalls and gorges.
Nice camp sires and very quiet . Gorgeous hike up the Glen also.
On the weekends you can park for free behind the courthouse . Enter from 9th St.
Favorite hike , love all the waterfalls
We went on the gorge trail ... Holy stairs batman!! But it was worth every step!! Waterfalls were beautiful
Wear shoes you don't care about because there are large puddles on the trail
Nice walk, bit crowded during touristy time, hike difficulty is easy
Park closes at sundown. Go after some wine tasting , maybe after a late lunch . Lots of stairs , bring a camera . So worth it.
Take the Gorge trail ! Go upward rather than downwards, complete just half the trail then head back. Don't use their bathrooms . Wear sneakers , not flip flops. Spray-on a bug repellant
Waterfalls and caverns. A totally mystical vibe surrounds this placs
Great medium strain hike with wonderful scenery
Take the Gorge trail it the farther you go the more beautiful the falls are!
Nice place to walk Madison and have a picnic it's very beautiful
Be sure to come earlier. Less people, more nature!
The gorge trail is a fabulous, stunning walk.
Too bad the main trail was closed due to hazardous conditions. We ended up taking other trails (Indian trail ) as a backup.
Great hiking up the gorge!
Nice camping . Used it as a base to your nearby wineries .
When hiking with little ones it's good to take the shuttle to the top and hike it down. Shuttle is $3 pp over age 5
don't wear nice shoes , they are gonna get muddy dirty . Hiking shoes are the best.
Take the shuttle to the top and then walk down, you will enjoy it without being out of breath!
Amazing waterfall trail .
Absolutely beautiful 1.5 mile hike to see 19 waterfalls. Get there early to see the place when it’s less crowded. - Angie Purcell
If you want to do the hike in a hurry, take the shuttle ($5 pp) to the top and walk down. It's a lot less crowded this way too - Rory Parness
Прекрасное место, но я не попала, закрыто до мая. Потеряла на дорогу 2,5 часа ???? - Ksenia Velazquez
I love this place. Its a wonderful campground with a lot of friendly campers. Bring your remote control truck for intense racing! ;D - Paige Bryan
Even though it's fairly small, it's a very nice park with a great view. Just remember that the park does not include the private dock areas in the marina! - Allan Kintz
Walk off lunch or dinner - Lizzie Borden
The green curry dip for sweet potato fries is outstanding. Great beer selection, the andouille and goat cheese burger were amazing. - Greg Gawinski
It's a Wal-Mart.... It's okay. I feel the Painted Post and Horseheads Wal-Marts are better. - Anthony Carpenter
