We stop here most every time we go to Rockford. On the Rock River , the paved trail is scenic , flat and easy to get to.
Yes renos were needed - but the lagoon is not what I remember from my days as a kid. Lots of cement and man-made features. Miss the good ol' skating on the lagoon days...nothing can replace that.
Lots of open spaces and a great scenic overlook of the river and the city
The Band Concerts on Tuesday at 7 are impressive and so wonderful at the band shell.
The lagoon is closed because of construction on the new Conservatory, but the Rose Garden is still open, and there are still ducks to be found along the river .
Great place to jog, just beware of the geese they can get vicious at times.
