Just as Melbourne's cool, ordered NGV exemplifies its city , Sydney's AFNSW is a bewildering clusterf*ck of architectural styles. Dig deep for a wonderfully diverse collection: Wednesday is late night
If you decide to visit just one gallery or museum , i recommend this one strongly.
The Pop to Popism was well worth seeing! Ticket price includes a film screening, so make sure you check out the session times
Restaurant on the Mezzanine level (NE corner) provides excellent views across the Harbour and The Wharf. Hidden gem . Menu is pretty good value and food generally good quality.
The amount of artwork and the spacious displays. Easily spend a day here. Great special exhibits too.
Bit sad that the only van gogh in australia gets dispayed like it does!! Poor form. The audio app for the gallery has major room for improvement. Loved the wifi - it works!! Fabulous indigenous art
The European arts section is awesome. Make sure you check the guided tour schedules before you go. Makes a lot of difference.

Skip the insipid Autralian 19th century rooms and head upstairs to a strong contemporary collection .
A stuffy gallery with no vibe and very little exciting art . It has a horrible contemporary collection and the exhibitions change infrequently. Every time I go it's a disappointment, why do I bother.
Leave your bag at the cloak room for free! Your back will thank you for it.
