Wisconsin State Capitol is a capitol building Downtown Madison Madison located in United States.
2 E Main St (MLK Blvd.) Madison , WI 53702 United States
Beautiful architecture and a great place for history buffs! Right in the centre of the city , and access to UW, lots of shops and places to eat.
You know the building looks like the capital building in DC, but when you turn the corner and see it, it still impresses you.
Get there early for a less crowded tour group (take the tour...the guides' knowledge is awesome ). Take time to enjoy/look around the judicial wing, amazing variety of architecture , painting & rock.
Beautiful inside and out. Be sure to check out the rotunda. Several bathrooms inside.
The outside of the building is made of 43 different kinds of stone. The WI Capitol Building is the only Capitol building to be completely covered in granite. Watch this video for more info. Read more
Could you ask for a more breathtaking capitol? I don't think so! I love the giant double doors on the facade and the picturesque marble staircases.
One of the best state capitols in the country , the Wisconsin State Capitol will make you feel like you've arrived in Washington D.C.!

Beautiful landscaping & flowers . Nice place to just hang out. Bubblers are everywhere, I love it
After walking up one of the four staircases, turn around for a breathtaking view of one of the lakes (I personally enjoyed the view down King Street).
Beautiful building with a lot of wonderful history. Try the fossil scavenger hunt too!!
W.D Hoard, Hoard's Dairyman magazine founder, served as governor here (in the third capitol which burned down in 1904) from 1889 to 1891. This capitol was built from 1906 to 1917 for $7.25 million.
Free tours of the building are offered every day without a reservation , or you can just wander around yourself.
Visit on April 15th...there's usually a Tax Day Tea Party rally in front of the Capitol. For once, if you're a conservative and in Madison, you won't feel outnumbered.
Take a tour to the top and you get a great view of all of Madison from the highest point in the city !
