The Diego Rivera murals are worth the price of admission alone. Spend some serious time in that room.
As you go from gallery to gallery you will be constantly amazed. This museum is a true gem. Self guided tours , docents to help you and of course, the Rivera Industrial murals .
The Diego Rivera mural alone makes it worth the trip! If you are there during normal business hours, check out the murals at the Detroit Public Library just west of the DIA across Woodward.

You have to see the Diego Rivera Gallery yourself. The photos not only don't do it justice, but they tend to just show the labor-positive aspects. The art shows the positive and the negative duality.
Give yourself at least two hours. The exhibits are fantastic
Amazing artwork. Nice gift shops . Love the little courtyard for food. The middle ages/renaissance section is like stepping back in time. And special exhibits are always great.
World class exhibits and the architecture of the building itself is amazing, same with the scarab , library , Detroit Engineering society buildings. Just an icredible area and Art Institute.

Founded in 1885, the DIA's collection is among the top 6 in the US. In 2000 the DIA opened the GM Center for African American Art in order to broaden the museum 's collection of African American art .
A fantastic art gallery . It displays art and provides signage in a way that helps you savor art even if you aren't educated in art appreciation or history.
