Seating. For 3-4 people, staff ushered them to the iconic booths (right), with see-through mini curtains. For 1-2 pax, you will be on the same row with fellow diners. There are bigger tables too
Grilled seabass ($58). Tasty yet clean flavours. Suitable for business conversations: the fish is easy to cut, the others like cherry tomatoes & croutons are bite-sized, no sauce to spill over
Banana crème brûlée ($19). The “foie gras ” in the description piqued us. Delicately made. Predominantly sweet, with light savoury hints. Plenty of reduced banana chunks to bite into
There are 3 entrances to the restaurant . From inside Victoria Concert Hall ; another faces the Empress Place field (next to main building entrance). And this entrance faces Singapore Cricket Club
Toast Astoria ($32). Seafood on butter-fried toast . While it may appear dainty, it is actually easy to cut and share between two persons
Iberico pork chop ($48). Sauce vin jaune (French yellow wine ) made this dish very juicy, and balanced the grilled meat
Walked into warm lighting, with upbeat music to add a playful mood. Lots of nooks to have private conversations
Golden Hour (aka Happy Hour ). Fridays & Saturdays only. 3pm-6pm. Selection cocktails & beers offered at what appears to be half price
Canele ($4). Very well made. Nicely baked on the outside, chewy on the inside. Would order again
Wide range of wines by the glass. Allowed us to sample various labels for our meal
Braised leek ala vinaigrette ($28). So little leek ! And because everything is chopped up, hard to eat
The bar stocks up on unique vodkas & gins , as well as akvavit — distilled spirit from Scandinavia
Lots of curios arranged all over the restaurant . Some of them are so out of place, they rouse a chuckle ????
Limited tables next to the tall windows facing Singapore Cricket Club. Lots of natural light streaming in
The restaurant operates on the concert side of the building
Admiring the tall columns and ceilings at this restaurant
Great happy hour deals from 4-7pm
Playful images on the plates. What’s on yours?
A panda eats, shoots, and leaves ????
