Bring your walking shoes ! It's huge! We didn't get to see the polar bear , but everything else was pretty alert and active. I love animals:)) also: the kangaroo exhibit was great and interactive!
I love the polar bear exhibit , my whole family goes together to the zoo at least once a year. It's such a fun time, and there are so many animals to see. The outback adventure is pretty amazing too!
the parking was so overrun, staff was directing patrons to park on the lawns along 10-mile and all over the lawns on the zoo grounds. STILL CHARGED FOR PARKING.... what? zoo itself is great.
It's the Zoo !!! What's not to love?!? Vitamin Z is a must for any kid or adult!! Any event at the zoo should be attended too! Wild wine tasting . Run wild for the zoo 5 or 10k. Awesome events !!
The new penguin exhibit is hands down the best I have experienced anywhere in the country . Incredibly well constructed to offer unique and exciting vantages. The rest of the zoo is good, but not great
Children will be amazed by animals from all over the world, including the Arctic, African Grasslands, Asian Forest Australian Outback . The zoo also has a carousel.
Giraffe Encounter was amazing! Go to the special ticket booth right after the main entrance and get to hand feed them! Two ppl can share one "ticket" since you get 2 pieces of food for the giraffe.
I loved the zoo as a kid, even though I grew up in Wisconsin. Many say it's not awesome but really I've been to a dozen and Detroit is my favorite. If you live here I highly recommend membership.
wonderful zoo , with a train to ride, carousel, and endless ways to spend time with animals. visit in the fall and winter to catch more active animals. don't forget to become a member!
One of the world's top zoological societies. Great to visit even during the winter months - fewer people and still many cool animals to visit!
I grew up with this zoo & it's still my favorite. Great staff , great exhibits . Check out the Arctic Ring of Life & the Australian Outback . Excited for the new penguinarium!
Penguin display is great! Off season free parking and you only need 1.5 hours. Veterans go Veteran’s Day weekend - free admission for you and a guest. @NicoleRovig
If you can be at the Arctic Circle of Life in the under water tunnel when they are feeding the polar bears you will have an amazing show. The polar bear sits on the glass above you and dives for food.
It's a Zoo ! Was here for Summer Stroll for Epilepsy, it was raining/misting for most of the time I was there. Still loved it & the Wolves.
The size of this place is almost deceiving when you get there. It’s HUGE! Very cool and educational exhibits and layouts. You’ll want a full day here.
Must-sees: the Wild Adventure Ride (a virtual-reality wilderness trip) and the Arctic Ring of Life (featuring a clear tunnel you walk through while polar bears swim overhead).
Had a great time at the zoo . Very clean . Here's the tip-bring your own lunch to save some money. Like any theme park , the food is grossly overpriced. Even at the Coney Island , which was depressing.
The new interactive Penguin exhibit is awesome. Really enjoyed the Arctic area as well as the giraffe overlook.
The Penguinarium is a big draw, but check out the new otter house and don't miss the warthogs!
Get a membership! If you live close by and have kids, the value can not be beat!
Do us all a favor and don't have your kids throw things at the animals, and don't swear when there are kids are around! (Yes, this really happened while I was there!)
It started as a broken down circus , but now they've got all sorts of fancy stuff. The butterfly garden and polar bears are great.
Ant eaters, wolves and kangaroos. Membership and Pepsi make this fun and you can return often.

the zoo has seasonal hours. right now it is 10 am until 5 pm. Labor Day through nov 1 per the website.
Children and adults will enjoy this zoo . Be sure to check out the Arctic Circle of Life.
Fun day lots to see. My Godson is very happy. The polar bear has an awesome sense of humor.
Otters were closed for remodeling, but a visit to the polars is well worth your time. Also if you are from the tri-county area a year-long membership for 2 costs only $55 Read more
What a great zoo . Make sure you check out the Arctic Ring of Life , Australian Outback , and Amphibiville. Also, get a picture infront of the Rackham Fountain .
The butterfly room is magical I've loved it since I was a kid. A MUST SEE
During the summer, the Zoo stays open until 8pm. It's the best time to go!
Be sure to check out the 'roo exhibit , you can walk through their cage. Walk slow, If they come up to you stop!
We've been members here for years. This is our 11 month old son's first trip here. Our 7 year old is an old hat here.
Be sure to stroll down the wooded path to the right after the bathrooms ; it takes you right to the otters if you go all the way.
Peacocks evidently like popcorn ! Make sure your kids don't leave a trail behind them. Nate was nearly attacked today!
Wonderful time with Katie and Charlotte. Enjoy the gardens and open areas when they are green and in full bloom.
Plan your trip! The Zoo is large with plenty activities and exhibits .
Two must-sees: Penguin house and Arctic Ring of Life !
The bathrooms in the back by the train station are the worst. Super stinky and gross. Try the ones behind the education center which have child sized potties.
Went for Wild Night Lights. Absolutely gorgeous!!
Get a zoo pass and a drink cup that is refillable for free after initial cost...kids love this place
The new Penguin exhibit is worth the admission.
The Binturong (Bear Cat!), the Arctic Fox and the Red Panda are my favorites.
If you thought it was a good summer time spot, it's even better during fall!
One of the first places to show animals in their natural (ish) habitats. No cages.
The polar bear exhibit is nice in the winter.
I love the meerkats! The Australian Outback is awesome too!
I don't know what is more fun to watch, the animals or the people.
Great place for hemophilia walk for our grandson -- and all Jacey's Crazies!
The frozen lemonade was yummy! Try some!
One of the unique things about our zoo. Especially great for a warm outdoor experience in the middle of winter - Robert Jim Fulner
a wonderful path weaves through the kangaroo enclosure allowing you to share their space. - sarcasm
Great frisbee golf course!!! Especially awesome because it's at the end of my street lol. - Heather Schwenck
Nice habitats. Educational for the kids - Ella Howd
some new(ish) younger otters frolicking around. don't forget to check out the outside window. - sarcasm
