Excellent wine list . Carne Asada , the bread , strawberry-rhubarb tart . You really can't go wrong. I went to the best tapas places in Barcelona looking for something better than Mas. Couldn't find it.
Start with a wine flight to taste three rotating reds. Then move to the amazing tapas selection. The carne asada , bocadillo jamon , and shrimp dishes were all standouts.
Every time you eat here will be the best day of your life. Order a couple things at a time, and plan to spend at least 2hrs. Smoked tomatoes , dates, Serrano, carne, and all the seafood . Amazing.
Believe it. Or don't believe it. A sweet Sherry with apricot chèvre on toast dessert is mad crack. Tell me I'm wrong & I will diss your palate deficiencies so astutely that you will seek therapy.
Bacon-wrapped dates and then some. And by some, I mean the carne asada , cheese plate , assorted pomegranate margaritas and a pitcher of sangria to split between fantastic friends.
Ever changing, seasonal menu , but the classic 5 are: the dates, papas bravas , artichoke spread, shrimp , & carne asada . Awesome vibe, food, wine , & service.
Favorite place in Charlottesville. The empanadas , carne asada , cauliflower , and papas bravas are not to miss.
Mas is among the places one ought include it in a Best-Test list of C'Ville. Even if you get there early, plan to make an evening of it. Take time. Order batches, flights. Savor. Eat too much. Enjoy.
The Carne Asada is ridiculously amazing and is served w/delicious flatbread . That plus the sangria , gambas a la parilla , goat cheese&artichoke w/fresh-baked bread , empanada , and dates is perfection!
Fun and has a killer vibe. Don't get mad if you can't get a table fast, it's a popular spot. Gr8 food and drinks (only place I know in town that uses fresh lime juice instead of sourmix 4 margaritas )
Pro tip: sit on the couches toward the back while waiting for a table - they may serve you from there!
Try the the gambas al' parilla , jumbo shrimp grilled in the shell and set off with garlic aioli and gray salt.
Best of C-Ville '12: Best Restaurant , Best Chef (Tomas Rahal). Runner-up: Best Restaurant Wine List , Best Outdoor Dining
You haven't lived in any meaningful way until you've experienced MAS. It doesn't matter what you eat - you just have to experience it.
Get the empanachos. I've been to Spain and this did justice to their cuisine and then some. Absolutely incredible!
Excellent spot for late night snacks and drinks
Everything is good. Try the shrimp .
Uneven is how I'd describe Mas. Some things are great, like the bocarones, others not so much like the bravas .
The artichoke goat cheese dip , carne asada , bacon wrapped dates , and lamb chops are essential.
New octopus dish was great
Sit at the bar and watch the chefs churn the food out. That, and the bocadillo .
The large pitchers of sangria are amazing- they last forever and are easy on the pocket!
The tapas are huge!
Try their sangria , it's spectacular! Get there early or call ahead since it's small and seating is limited. Read more
Mas has great atmosphere, outdoor tables and lovely people.
Smoked tomatoes are irrationally good.
The smell of smoke and fresh flowers - Sensory bliss
Get the jumbo grilled shrimp and a blood orange margarita .
Is there anything better than boquerones and a glass of wine ?
Bacon wrapped dates are always amazing!
Service was awfull and do not know what everyone is talking about mas, no service, no presentation, no taste....
Bacon-wrapped dates. Nuff said.
Service was really bad. Made us very bitter. Thinking maybe they are a little arrogant.
Biscuits and gravy are great! Possibly the best brunch I've ever had. I need to get the recipe for that gravy. - Chad Horrell
More than worth the short drive from downtown. Crazy beer list, knowledgeable staff, and the best fish tacos I've had outside of San Diego. - LoriPA
A great restaurant with fair pricing and excellently prepared food. There's a lot more room than appears to be from the street; personally, I'd ask to sit upstairs. Solid local draft beer selection. - Ellie Pines
The shrimp and grits is excellent. One of the best in town. - Calvin Lai
Great place. The food is really good. The wine list is great. Italian micro brews...wow. Outside of Spiaggia in Chicago, I have never seen Italian craft beer offered. Highly recommended. - Austin
