Great place to take a cozy blanket and to sit right down at the water in the late evening. You'll get a very beautiful and aromatic skyline of Portland and the reflections in the water.
Great running/biking route taking you right along the waterfront ; you can continue further south along the spring water corridor route as well . Beautiful!
Awesome place for a bike ride on a sunny afternoon in Portland. An absolute must do when the weather permits.
Take a stroll along the Willamette River . Cross over the Morrison Bridge and the Steel Bridge and you have a 2.75 mile loop. On Saturday and Sunday, there's "Saturday Market ".
Road cyclists need to remember to SHARE THE TRAIL . It's not a race course, it was built as a WALKING TRAIL . Yield to slower traffic, don't jet past them causing casual cyclists on a stroll to wreck.
I mostly love jogging the SW waterfront loop because I don't have to worry about cars and I enjoy the river even if it is dirty .
Beautiful water feature. A lovely place to sit and have lunch or to do leaf-boat races.
The characters of Portlandia walk along the Esplanade as they sing the opening song "The Dream of the 90s" in Portlandia S1 E1.
Lots of things going on the Esplanade last night, pirates, bikes , band on a barge, Ferris wheel on a barge.
Walk over the Hawthorne Bridge & take in the awesome views of the city & water.
i have so many good memories here!
