Best Egg Tarts in HK , attested by Chris Patten and yours truly. Eggy, jiggly, and mildly sweet, Tai Cheong reigns supreme over the island 's 'dan ta' offerings! Beignets ('sa yung') also tasty treat.
Best egg tart I've ever had, left me wanting seconds! And... I'm not even an egg tart fan! Although other tips say $5 per egg tart , it is now $6 per egg tart . Gotta love inflation.
Awesome egg tart . Definitely recommended. The crust is crispy and tasty at the same time, while the custard is smooth and creamy. You don’t want to miss this!
Best Egg Tarts in Hong Kong - The egg tarts literally melt in your mouth. The crispy crust & creamy egg custard tasted better than those sold in Macau! Recommended by Chris Patten , last Governor!
I absolutely love egg tarts & these are the best I've ever eaten. Butter style egg tarts which are light, crumbly, creamy & delicious. One is isn't enough!
The Egg tarts are good and I grew up eating them but now the tourist hype is making it a bit cray cray with lines outside. The Korean tourists LOVES them!!
This is an awesome egg tart especially when it's still hot and fresh out of the oven! Because of the high turnover this happens throughout the day!
I usually dont eat these kind of things, but the balery is just around the corner and i thought i must try, i was amazed how tasty the tart was, very fresh !!
(5/5) While I prefer egg tarts made with puff pastry , these are probably the best pie crust egg tarts I've had to date. Eat it while it's still hot!
Perfect for take away , the famous egg tarts
you can't visit Honkong without trying one of these delicious Egg Tarts ...or Egg White Cake or... :-)
Both the custard and pastry had excellent texture. The only drawback is the overall sweetness over my version of perfection...
The egg tarts are so damn good. Melty warm custard on flaky buttery crust good.

Favourite egg tarts ! Best when it’s just come out of the oven! Eat it straightaway :) ????
I bought (take-away) egg tartes (5 hkd each) in 5/4 2011. I love this thick taste from egg tartes . See the link for the photo !! Read more
Really good egg tarts . Expect a sturdier, buttery shell here with a filling of silky, smooth, sweet egg curd .
Egg tarts - the filling is great! So thick and eggy. The pastry is of the short variety instead of puff. Found the coconut tart a bit dry.
Delicious must have egg tarts when I come to Hong Kong, best when it’s piping hot!
A must-try true local delicacy with an absolutely divine flakey crust. Have one hot right out of the oven!
Lovely egg tarts with crispy crusts. Best to eat while it’s hot
One of the best for sure. Nice balance of curd and crust, light and tasty
Definitely the best egg tart in HK ! They have a lot of branches but I like going to the main bakery on lyndhurst. :)
Awesome Egg Tarts though crust is a tad too sweet for my liking.. awesome nonetheless. Wife says Ipoh's slightly better :)
Worth the inflation, $9
Excellent egg tart although pricey but creamy!
I usually prefer Portuguese style egg tarts , but these may be the best Hong Kong style ones I've ever had.
Must try. After all it was Patten 's favorite.
Wish I'd known to eat my egg tarts warm. Sounds like warm egg tarts are awesome and the ones I had three hours later are just decent.
Their egg tart is classic - getting one and eating it immediately outside the store has become a scene of the street
Former Governor Chris Patten 's favorite. Egg tarts are good. Not flakey. Some people may not like them. I like flakey.
Not too sweet. Perfectly savory. Cookie base. Tastes perfect
The egg tart is a must try!
Very nice egg tart but the pie is quite oily anyway there is nice a first bite ????
Egg tarts fresh and delicious, but line ups can be very long and no puff pastry option!
