The last remnant of a cadre of giant dachshund heads that once stood guard over the Bay Area's Doggie Diner chain. See the bronze plaque at the base for more information.
My dad worked for doggie diner way back when. Amazing to actually see a head, and rather randomly too!

We have an annual membership to the zoo since we moved to SF. It's a really great place if you have kids. Lot's of interesting animals and daily live feedings. Not a must as a tourist, but if you live - Review Bot
