Cafe Allegro

Seattle's Oldest Espresso Bar tucked in the alley way between 15th and University Way near the UW. With strong coffee, plenty of space, and a well stocked pastry case it's a great place to study, hang out or discuss your next great idea with strangers. Weekly entertainment upstairs.

I got a latte here which was pretty good - not the absolute best but good. The location and ambience is the best part of this coffee shop though.

Monica Ashwini

This place is like a hidden gem in Seattle. One of the oldest , or perhaps the oldest cafes , it has a really old design that celebrates history in all it's glory! Great food and Hot Chocolate !

Katie Yamada

Really old coffee shop , but the quiches are delicious, the OJ is fresh squeezed and the coffee is strong and tasty

Scott Rose

I've been going to this place for 40 years. The coffee is great but they no longer have the fruity-oaty "mazurkas" that I crave. Nobody else does, either. Cortado FTW.

Jordyn

Of course their coffee is amazing, but their chai is to die for. It's so spicy and yummy.

Karthik Raman

Good coffee , tasty croissants . A good place to work if you are ok with moderate sound levels. Not too many outlets .

Ed

First espresso shop in town , blah blah blah. A little slice of old Seattle. Pay cash, save some dough and f*ck the credit card processors

Yessica ????

Sit upstairs if you're looking to get some work done. It's usually a lot more quiet .

Renee G

Artistic environment, great coffee , and relatively quiet place for reading and studying!

Mutine des Abers

Buy the prepaid coffee card. You spend less money in the end by not being tempted to purchase more and you don't have to worry about the card surcharge.

David Klein

Law School is just a stone throw away, this place kept me awake during the finals. Great place, even better coffee .

Wayne Proctor

True Seattle flavor, one of the last bastions of how this town used to be, funky and cool, a bit flouncy with erudite wit and wisdom -but isn't that what coffeehouses are supposed to be?

Courtney Jill

Great coffee . Very quiet & studious atmosphere.

Lisa Hinchliffe

Impressed. Don't have liquid sugar for iced coffee but melted some for me with steam!

Jenn P

Delicious mocha and reasonable sizes!!

Blaze Jayne

An 8oz coffee is a nice small boost for when you need to get back to hacking after dinner (but not stay up all night)

Sanford Moskowitz

White mocha is pretty solid.

Abbey Willman

air a little thin ... jazz .. parrots...there's something they're not telling us. good coffee .

Roger Schonfeld

Great Americano . Backroom a bit odiferous.

Brett Morris

The best latte on the Ave, hands down.

Natarajan Chakrapani

Apparently Seattle's oldest coffeehouse , their mezzo mezzo is worth trying

SouthernBeets

"Oldest coffee shop in Seattle." It's hidden in the alley !

Deborah Ruppert

Like they have wonderful coffee

Mohammad AlMoqhem

At my retreat in the alley

Tim Smith

Entrance is off the alley paralleling University .

Jeff Bowlin

The upstairs is closed for renovation! Rats !

Jon Masaya Evans

Find the staircase and go upstairs. Alas, you cannot smoke there any longer, But enjoy the extra seating and silence regardless.

Mary S

Mochas from heaven

JIN MIN LEE

I love the ice latte of Allegro. Unfortunately, the view shut out by new building!!!!

Roberto Juárez-Garza

Go to the second floor. It's less crowded and WiFi is way faster.

Jocelyn Chui

Love their iced almond latte

Joe Eastham

Strong coffee , awesome pastry . Agreed on the marionberry croissant .

Christian Williams

Matt Lew

Seattle's first coffee shop .
