Trader Joe's: a neighborhood grocery store with amazing food and drink from around the globe and around the corner. Great quality at great prices - that's what we call value.

TJ’s can get crowded , so go early in the morning on weekends or in the middle of the day during the week. The store is well-stocked and the long line always moves pretty quickly. Read more
Most spacious and spread out of all the Trader Joe's I've been to in NYC. This is my fifth. More cashiers than other TJs so the line moved quickly on a Wednesday night.
If you come on a crowded day/time, know what you want because the entire top floor turns into the checkout line . Produce on top level, other things on bottom level.
Get there before 3 and no line . On a Friday even. But even with the line they will have you out of there in 8 minutes tops.
The line is often very long. But it moves very fast! Try to resist being those people where one waits in line and the other person rushes around to get stuff because it ruins the adventure.
Everything. Absolutely everything. Grab a basket, get what you need downstairs, and then get in line and shop as you wait! It's the best way to maximize your time.
Veggies not as fresh as Fairway, often sold out by end of the day. Frustratingly long queues. The frozen Japanese gaoza dumplings are the best in town , baked goods better than Wholefoods.
This place is always crowded on Mondays after 5pm. It's typically way better on Tuesdays and Wednesdays if you need to go after work
Huge huge line and incredibly crowded . But things move fast and the food is high quality and inexpensive . Even if there's a line outside, don't let it deter you.
I forgot to get a basket and of course picked up too much stuff. The lady behind me insisted on offering the free space in her cart! Love the energy here!
The line always moves faster than you think. Start in the basement for frozen + pantry stuff, move upstairs for fresh. Don't abandon your cart in the line to shop for 3-5 minutes. Reach! And jam ????.
Great (and reasonably priced) for frozen food, dry / canned goods and beer ! The line isn't as scary as it seems (unlike 14th St.). Wish they could have a wine store at this location too!
Don't be a douche: return chilled food items to the chilled section. Don't just dump it in a random bin.
Whether you're headed for an upscale night at Lincoln Center or a dirty rock show at Terminal 5, stop here first and snack on their phenomenal dark chocolate peanut butter cups . Smooth and deeelish!
Shop for everything you need on the Downtown floor first, then get on the line and collect things like milk , eggs meat and veggies while you are on line traveling to check out.
The staff here are always the nicest ever. Also, be nice to the world and bring a reusable shopping bag - if you do, they'll put your name in a raffle. ;)
Expect a long line at the register. This location is crowded at any time of day or night. The staff is really friendly and the line moves quickly just be prepared for the wait
I am a fan! It stinks the lines are always so long but everyone has caught on to the TJ craze! Patience is a small price to pay for great products hey? My dog is addicted to the wheat free treats !
3-4 TJs in Manhattan. A Brit friend said, "Trader Joe's is wht makes America gr8." Not as gr8 as in Cali, but beggrs can't b choosrs (i.e., me) Get the Parmesan fr Australia. Best I evr had. At $8/lb!
Pack your patience. Polite and hardworking staff . Good selection of edibles. Good place to pick up a hostess gift or contribution to a gathering.
The most pleasant and helpful staff of any store I've ever been to in NYC, and I've been to a lot of stores in NYC. Kudos to the staff and management.
The most civilized T.J.'s in Manhattan hands down. Typically not crowded (nothing like 14th St.) & nice/helpful staff . The prices are great & nearly everything is quite good!
Inner peas : great snack . Not too bad for you. Cookie butter : eat at your own risk. Highly addictive, delicious and definitely not good for you.
Not as crazy as its Union Square brother (and there’s no wine ) but you’ll forgive the lines when you get home and enjoy your delicious and inexpensive groceries .
The chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel bites are dangerously good. So are most of their treats. Lines are always long, but move well .
Great healthy food with pleasing prices. Staff is there to help and there are always great tasters
This store is a daily shit show unless you come early in the morning before 12 or after 8pm, otherwise be prepared for chaos! There is even an occasional line outside to get in which is just insane!!
Love Trader Joe's but this one gets so crowded . Really solid produce though. And so much cheaper than any other store.
Don't worry about the line because it moves very quickly. But do take time to enjoy the artwork
They run out of kale pretty fast, but if you call in the morning and "reserve " it... They"ll hold it for you until the end of day. Kale : the popular green du jour.
First Trader Joe's experience and it was a goodie. The groceries were surprisingly cheap , didn't expect it at a store like this. The beer is also extremely cheap for Manhattan.
If your looking for a great cheese you should pick up some Old Amsterdam Gouda ! Make sure to also check us out on our website for pairing and recipe ideas. http://oldamsterdam.com/
Gets crowded but if you go on an off hour, it's a good time!
Get in the right-side line , and plan your shopping so that you pick up everything on the upper floors you pass in line .
Lines are long, but they move so quickly and efficiently! Love this store and its employees.
lines . lots of lines . pro-tip. go downstairs first, then go directly in line and pick up stuff along the way...
Ignore the "special" that pops up when you check in here. There's no wine at this location and, well , "great deals" on wine aren't specials.
Their FourSquare "Special" is just an AD, not a special. Big stores should know better than to create ill will. Tell 'em so!
The best place in Manhattan to buy groceries , but don't go late because you won't find a lot of things.
Great place to get only half the things you need and have to go to fairways anyways. Oh, but there's always a line , so it must be special.
Always a long line , but it moves fast. Pick up your veggies and meat products while waiting
Lines seem long but they go fast. Make sure you skip the aisles the lines goes in so you can shop while you are moving in the line .
Cut you some flax. Try adding flaxseed or its oil to your meals. Trader's has it golden roasted, milled , whole, in cereal, in oatmeal . The health benefits are plentiful and the taste is yummy.
Avoid going late nights as aost all stock is gone. Also weekend afternoons are a nightmare, even so this place is awesome and the lines move quick.
They keep the inside non-crazy by limiting the number of ppl who enter at a time. Seems insane that stuff like this happens on a regular Sunday, but that's manhattan for you.
Trader Joes is a staple in NYC. Go during the weekday afternoon to avoid the normal craziness
A grocery store of organized chaos. Avoid during peak times - the after work crowd is intense and they'll often turn people away if lines are too long. Fairway and Westside Market nearby are good alts
If you have to move your car for street cleaning during the weekday come and park at the meter and load up on cheap groceries for the week with no crowd/no line !
Sooooo happy to have Trader Joe's right on 72nd & Bdwy! I totally bypass all the other "gourmet" markets -- TJ is my go to for just about everything!
Even if the line is all the way back to the meat department , it still takes less than 10 minutes to get to a register. Love TJ's!
Has great freshly squeezed orange juice and really good fruit. It also has an amazing selection of cookies and foreign candy. - Georgina Jenkins
I love this store! They are really celebrating 4th of July with delicious swordfish nacho sampling. YUM! - Danielle s
Larissa the pharmacist makes complicated situations simple & is efficient as well as kind. - Sharon Travis
Great park to walk and bike. Enjoyable. Always something going on. Kayak, merry go round, zoo, concerts, playground - Angi W
I like this theater. Lots of options, comfortable seats. Popular movies get sold out so make sure to book in advance. - I K
